New way to get buy-in on EmpireTech cameras

Yeah, not sure she will go for that one. Probably would just tell me to go outside and follow them around to see what they do. Oh, and not get in trouble while doing it!

New way to get buy-in on EmpireTech cameras

Hey, just trying to help out others. I can't believe the price. I know Canon glass is good (at least in the SLR and DSLR market), but that seems really expensive to me. I am sure he is, but I can't afford to pay his gas for him to drive all of the way out here and back.

New way to get buy-in on EmpireTech cameras

This just came up in an advertisement feed.... PoE Managed Switch

@wittaj, Nope, wasn't happy with them. I found this place doing a search on alternatives to ReoLink, and after 2 days of reading, I knew that I was looking at the wrong cameras. Thus my first post regarding which camera to purchase where you suggested the 5442. Yes a PTZ and/or one of the...

BI Triggers (Motion) vs ONVIF triggers

I meant what ONVIF message was being sent by the camera, not what BI was doing. I figured they had to be sending something that was more descriptive than "Begin Event", "End Event", but I could be wrong about that.

    PoE Managed Switch

My wife was ok with cameras in 1 or 2 places that can't be seen from inside the house, but was thinking more along the price point of Wyze or ReoLink, and wasn't on board with full coverage to start with. I got one of each the Wyze and ReoLink, and she wasn't happy, so "allowed" me to do more...

BI Triggers (Motion) vs ONVIF triggers

@wittaj that would probably work, where is that from? @Mike A. the ONVIF Device Manager looks good, I'll find that and see what that will do. I am just curious what ONVIF rules are being triggered other than the "EXTERNAL" that is shown in the BI logs. I have figured out that making changes...

BI Triggers (Motion) vs ONVIF triggers

What I was looking for was a program that I could run that would monitor the camera and display the events that it was sending. I wasn't intending to use it with BlueIris (at least for now) but just wanted to see what events were sent. Eric

BI Triggers (Motion) vs ONVIF triggers

Thanks, that will save me a bunch of time I am sure. That was what I was getting from my searching of the BI logs and docs and somewhat from the camera docs. Is there a tool that you can use to monitor the camera for ONVIF events and see what they are sending as far as events? Thanks again, Eric

BI Triggers (Motion) vs ONVIF triggers

I am getting ready to start tuning the Motion Detection in BlueIris and/or the cameras rather than just using the cameras default motion detection. The cameras are an EmpireTech IPC-HDW5442-T-ZE and a EmpireTech DH-IPC-PDW5849-A180-E2-ASTE. What I am looking to do right now, is set an alert...

    PoE Managed Switch

Wow, this thread blew up! I really appreciate all of the info. I am wavering on whether or not I want/need a managed switch. I prefer to set the IP address of all of my devices at the router/switch using static addresses simply for the ability and ease of changing an address (or group of...

    PoE Managed Switch

@TonyR , thanks. I had missed the 2 fans thing, that could be problematic. From reading the Docs for the Dell Switches, I understood the "P" to be the PoE versions. Thanks again, Eric

    PoE Managed Switch

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of this switch? Web access to DH-IPC-PDW5849-A180-E2-ASTE and WebPlugin

I normally wouldn't have been concerned, but triggering MS Defender, BitDefender and KAV on a different machine, was the concern. I am accustomed to the browser telling me that a file isn't safe and then having to "keep it" in order for it to download. Thanks, Eric

Web access to DH-IPC-PDW5849-A180-E2-ASTE and WebPlugin

I am connecting to the EmpireTech 180 camera (DH-IPC-PDW5849-A180-E2-ASTE) via a browser and along the bottom of the screen is the message: To use this function, please download and install the plug-in. Click here to download. When I attempt to download the Webplugin.exe from the link MS Edge...

SD card needed with BI ?

That sounds much better than getting out the ladder and climbing up to remove the card! I will bookmark this so that I remember to do the "auto delete". I never considered using it for continuous, that just never occurred to me. I was figuring only when triggered if I used them. After...

@samplenhold do you do a remote reboot to get them back up, or do you physically have to pull the card and then reboot?

2 questions about configuring the VT02311R-WP

I have 2 questions regarding the configuration of the VT02311R-WP... 1. How do you turn off the camera name "overlay" in the camera, not in BI. It shows up on the BI video stream and the video stream when I am in the camera's Audio/Video section, but I can't find anywhere to turn it off. 2...

SD card needed with BI ?

Looking for opinions here... Is there truly a need for having an SD card when using the camera with BI? The only reason I can think of is in case BI somehow doesn't record and the camera does, but that doesn't seem likely. If I am missing something, please let me know. Thanks, Eric

    Dahau VTO2311R-WP and ONVIF events

Does anyone have the Dahau VTO2311R-WP working with ONVIF events? I 1st tried adding it to BI using "add camera" with the settings from @wittaj 's post here. BI Motion detection works but no ONVIF events. I thin tried did a "copy camera" from my 5442 that is working with ONVIF events, and then...

    Hard disk monitoring

I have gotten a lot of software through them. You do NOT need a CC on the site, just name and email address. It is actual software that is normally for sale, but they offer deals to get their software known. You have to watch, because sometimes you have to install the software the same day...
