    Deer alert, dog dispatched

Exactly. I have the garage door automated to let the cat in, but I don't yet have a doggie door on the house.

    Deer alert, dog dispatched

I’ve been progressively improving my system to detect when deer visit my property. As cute as they are I don’t like them eating my fruits and vegetables. So my setup will send an alert to my phone, showing a cropped image, but it also is assigned to a unique tone. My dog has learned the tone...

Is their better at a reasonable budget ?

I purchased three 5442 6mm from Andy during his Black Friday sale last November. I've mounted one and still need to mount the other two. I had my E891AB trying to capture my deck and backyard. I liked how I had it mounted because under the soffit was not very noticable. But, the soffit was over...

Running POE extender vs addtional ethernet cable runs

You can also run two cams over a single cat5/6 cable. You need adapters on both ends of the cable, as it will use two ports on your switch.

    Security Camera Load on Network

I would be interested if anyone has successfully got this to work. I’ve configured Dahua, Amcrest and Lorex NVRs, and the channel assigned to the camera is the port it’s plugged into and two cameras can’t share a channel or port. Maybe newer firmware allows for this kind of setup.

Is their better at a reasonable budget ?

You could also just insert an SD card into the camera, and view both your Lorex and Z4E through an app or SmartPSS. I purchased a $100 Dahua NVR and continue to use my Lorex NVR for the Lorex cams.

    Security Camera Load on Network

The PoE ports on the NVR can only have one camera attached to each port. Think of it almost like an analog system. The cable with the other four cameras will plug into the switch closest to the NVR. The four from the network will be added as network devices, and the ones on the PoE ports will...

Is their better at a reasonable budget ?

I have the same kit. They do have the better 1/1.8” sensor, but the FOV is too wide for beyond the fence. My setup now is using the Lorex ones for close distance and 5442 6mm for stuff further away. I think your video inside the fence looks good.

    Security Camera Load on Network

If you look at the time from introduction to standard adoption it was a few years for 100Mb and 1Gb adaptors. But 10G over Ethernet had been available for a decade and few devices sport more than 1Gb. Cameras still use 100Mb. I think this is because for most applications 1Gb is plenty...

New to LPR? Considerations Before You Begin

They have both an on premise and cloud solution. The cloud pricing has usage tiers, which I think the free tier is 5,000 per month. I’m only doing my driveway, so that is plenty.

Help - Can't get AI tool to detect this animal which is clear in the snapshots.

They should not have the same photos. Basically, your model learns from the test set what features are important. You then see how well the model is performing by using your validation set. Lastly, once the model has finished training you can check it against a test set. If you are starting with...

Help - Can't get AI tool to detect this animal which is clear in the snapshots.

The training will output one "pth" or PyTorch model. This contains the labels, the model and the weights. Other frameworks output multiple files, with the labels and model in separate files. I assume you are following the steps here: https://docs.deepstack.cc/custom-models/ The instructions...

Help - Can't get AI tool to detect this animal which is clear in the snapshots.

My model has these six labels (or classes): cat deer dog fox person raccoon The default Yolo model trained on the COCO dataset has 80 labels. You could try to train it to detect which of your cats, and if you do, you'd create a label for each cat. You either label your images locally, with a...

None of the systems have an active learning component built in (AFAIK). If you start by custom training then you can add images as you see it working or not working. I've uploaded and labels all my images to roboflow ai. I started with one class and about 15 images. Now I have six classes and...

Is it a bad idea to shuffle IP cams to different ports on the back of my NVR?

According to the Dahua docs, this is the only way to reorder the cameras. It’s a bit odd at first, but it makes it function a bit like the analog models which tied the input port to the camera number.

Trespassing, destruction of property and attempted theft

I’d have to disagree with this idea, at least for Lorex cams. When the light pops on, it takes about six seconds for the camera to adjust its exposure and even longer when it turns off. You can adjust a camera for no light or artificial light, but changing the light has been problematic, at...
