    Dahua AI Series Thread

I wonder if this cam is basically an AI version of the IPC-T2231T-ZS? It is about $15 more.

Actually, just checked and the drive is listed in device manager as a "WD20EURX". Looked back through emails and this is the drive I bought... Western Digital WD20EURX 2TB CCTV/Surveillance Internal Hard Drive So, although it's not a WD Purple, it is listed as a WD surveillance drive, so...

    Jerky recorded footage

hmmm, you mention “limit decoding unless required” - I don’t have that feature enabled, as I rely on BI’s motion detection, and I read that enabling this can mess it up - or should I have it enabled? No I think the other 2mp cams are ok. Will try reducing the hikvision’s resolution to test. Thanks

    Jerky recorded footage

thanks Looney. When you say not powerful enough, do you mean to play back the footage, or to record it? As it seems to record it ok, particularly as I’m using direct to disk. However it’s the play back that causes high cpu usage. Going to replace the i3 cpu with an the i5 I have sitting here, 2...

    Jerky recorded footage

What you say makes sense, however it doesn't explain why the footage plays fine when the same file is transferred to another PC. Also, I transferred the same file from the WD Blue drive to the SSD which windows 10 is installed on (on the BI machine) and it still plays jerky. I'm stumped. As...

    Jerky recorded footage

Interesting figures on the passmark video scores, thanks. I have an i5-2500 cpu sitting here which I have been meaning to put into the BI machine. I think it might be quad core, so may help? Alternatively, it’s new machine time, or maybe even, as suggested above, time to move to an NVR. the...

    Jerky recorded footage

you may well be right. However I suppose plenty of people use blue iris on a pc with no problems? The HDD currently is use is a 2TB WD Blue. I know the purple models are more suited to surveillance but I acquired the blue unit with the PC and so figured I’d use it for now. Are the purple units...

    Jerky recorded footage

Hi all, So I have been trying to analyse footage and see if I can pinpoint the issue. To answer the question you posed: Is the video jerky when viewing the live view directly from the camera using internet explorer. No Is the video jerky when viewing live view full screen in BI. Slightly, but...

    Jerky recorded footage

Hi both, Apologies for taking my time to reply - yesterday was a little hectic with family visiting. Here is the clip (although, it does appear slightly smoother after exporting from BI and uploading to YouTube): The clip was encoded without using quicksync hardware decoding, just CPU. As...

    Jerky recorded footage

Thanks - have made those changes. I might also experiment with using mp4 file type, rather than BVR, as I’ve read a few people experience choppier video on bvr.

Getting Intel Quick Sync to work with Blue Iris (Settings & Troubleshooting)

Reading through these threads with interest. When I try and set my HW decoding to Intel in the camera’s video settings, the camera drops out and BI says “no signal”. No amount of restarts brings it back. I’ve also tried reverting to known good drivers for my integrated GPU, but to no avail...

    Jerky recorded footage

Hi all, and happy new year. I have a 5mp Hikvision turret 2CD2355FWD set up with blue iris 5. However, my recordings seem to be jerky whenever there is movement, even during the day (also happens at night). Please see the raw footage at the following Google Drive link: (I wasn’t sure how to...

Recommend a cam with better low light performance

I’ve ordered a Dahua starlight 2mp turret to see if it’s any better. If it is, I’ll move this one to the back yard. Thus Hik is max of f/2.0, Dahua is f/1.6 so hoping the shutter speed will be able to be faster at night.

Recommend a cam with better low light performance

thanks. however I think that low light shot was on 1/6sec shutter speed, so any motion was heavily blurred. This was the equivalent on 1/30sec: Might look at a led motion activated floodlight

Recommend a cam with better low light performance

Hi all, I am currently using a Hikvision DS-2CD2355FWD 5mp turret to look over our two cars. Only feasible placement of the camera was on the soffit of garage, only 6ft from front of cars when parked, so using a 2.8mm Lens at the highest resolution. Daytime performance is very good, as shown by...

Thank you for that recommendation. That is a good price. Can I ask though, for only £5 more, would the 5MP version be better? Hikvision DS-2CD2355FWD-I Turret Dome 5MP IP POE

    Recommendations?

Hi all, Greetings from the UK. :) I have a very simple setup for home security - two Wansview W2 bullet cameras connected to Blue iris software running on an old PC. Has worked fine, and picture quality is brilliant in daylight (see attached) and at night, but I am having terrible trouble...

    Canary

Someone's bought me a Canary as an early Christmas present. I would like to know if it's possible to get it to work with Blue Iris, so I can record footage from it rather than pay the £7.99/mth for a subscription. Alternatively, as it's from amazon, I can return it for a video doorbell...

    Accessing "Spy" Cam video stream?

Hi all, I posted this in the Blue Iris section, but in reality I don't think it's a BI problem, it's hardware/network related. I spent an eye-watering £19  on this cheap "Spy Cam" to allow me to keep an eye on the dogs whilst I am at work: It is an AOBO HC001...

Getting "Spy" cam to work with BI

Hi all, I spent an eye-watering £19  on this cheap "Spy Cam" to allow me to keep an eye on the dogs whilst I am at work: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B072J7TCQ3/ For what it is, it works great, out of the box it creates its own WiFi network, which you connect to via phone app, into that...

Foscam cameras - low FPS despite camera settings

Hmmm, annoying that the $50 Wansview is working perfectly, 25fps all day long yet the $150 Foscam refuses to work properly. Any ideas how to fix? Thanks

Foscam cameras - low FPS despite camera settings

Hmmm, so this afternoon I noticed that the Foscam FPS had reduced right down to 7-8 again. On rebooting the camera, the frame rate returned to 20FPS, however after a while this gradually reduces down to between 7 and 10. I have changed the camera bitrate to 2Mbps, amended the key frame...

Foscam cameras - low FPS despite camera settings

Thanks for your replies. No it's the full version. I have made some headway by doing a full hard reset on the Foscam, so now getting ~20FPS. I see lots of talk on here of people using much lower FPS settings, however am I right in thinking that with so few cameras and no issues with CPU being...

Foscam cameras - low FPS despite camera settings

Hi all, New BI user alert! I have a relatively simple home surveillance setup - 2 Cams and Blue Iris (full edition) is running on a Dell OptiPlex i3-2120, 8GB Ram, 256GB SSD system drive, 2TB storage drive Cams: 1x Wansview W2, set to record continuously at 1920x1080 @ 25fps (direct to disk)...
