Dahua responds to IoT attack - offers replacement discounts

I believe it has to do with the root passwords hardcoded in the firmware. In the article, they found the devices that were most vulnerable had firmware older than January 2015. Dahua in the article states firmware upgrades are available to authorized dealers, and in the event this is not...

http://www.cepro.com/article/dahua_addresses_recent_report_regarding_ddos_attack Here is an article that describes the vulnerability in more detail: https://krebsonsecurity.com/2016/10/europe-to-push-new-security-rules-amid-iot-mess/

    Anyone catch traffic from this?

I just saw this come across my desk: https://threatpost.com/when-dvrs-attack-a-post-iot-attack-analysis/121179/ It talks about the vulnerability in the DVR and IP cameras and the backdoor used to gain access. Anyone relying soley on port forward with username/password needs to rethink this...

    How to find mobile DeviceID

Thanks so much for pointing this out to me. I assumed the device name portion was something that was changed on the BI server and didn't realize it was getting it from the device. I changed the name of the device according to the article and BI automatically updated it in the mobile devices...

    Just ordered the IPC-HDW4431C-A

I see this recommended quite often. Is 20mb the recommended setting in all cases, or only when there are issues with the ghosting?

    How to find mobile DeviceID

I was hoping there was an element of the device I could look at that would identify the deviceid. Does anyone know if this is an Apple/Android attribute or a BI app attribute?

    How to find mobile DeviceID

How do you find out what a device's "deviceid" is for BI? I have 2 iphones and 2 ipads registered to the server and I only want to have a push go out to one device. Is there a way to tell which device is which? I looked in the help first and the section on this was very brief. There was a...

Tech support for the UniFi Switch?

I use their Unifi access points and find their forum to be pretty helpful when I had questions regarding firmware on their AP's and running the controller on a raspberry pi. Their developers moderate the forum so it might be a good place to start: http://community.ubnt.com/ I see a lot of...

Am I wiring my connectors properly?

Dude, this is a forum dedicated to ip cameras and related technology. I'm also pretty sure there are B&O forums where you can discuss pink wires and it is relevant to the participants of the forum. Do you actually have anything to add that is meaningful or helpful for others?

Am I wiring my connectors properly?

If it is working for you, then you are golden. But for anyone just starting out, the information you provided could be confusing and might lead someone down a difficult path. I think we can all agree that you should use either the 568A or B standard unless you know for sure something else...

New camera, but where's the SD Card slot ???

Sorry to derail the thread, but it reminds me of a great lesson I learned from this forum, esp the build thread by @CaliGirl. Set everything up on your table (cameras, switches, nvr/pc, etc) and make sure it works exactly like you expect it to before you run cables, or mount anything. Then...

Am I wiring my connectors properly?

Crosstalk is real, especially at gigabit speeds. If you are just matching colors pin to pin, the tx and rx communication may not be on the same pairs. You are giving up the entire reason to have twisted pair cable in the first place. If you are using POE, you could also be potentially putting...

    Anyone catch traffic from this?

I have an outbound rule on the FW to prevent the BI server and cameras from talking outside the network. VPN in to view cameras, and anything on LAN can access BI. You would not believe how much a win10 box talks outbound EVEN THOUGH I turned off all the BS phone home crap. Now it won't even...

    sricam problem please help

That means that your PC can reach the device and it acknowledges back. The nmap results show the PC can see you have port 554 and 5000 open on the device it can communicate with it at a very basic level. At this point I would say that there is an issue with the software you are using to...

Can you ping it? On windows - type cmd in the windows search box and get to a terminal prompt. Type ping 192.168.1.215 from the terminal. Make sure it's not an issue with the PC seeing the camera.

Hackers Infect Army of Cameras, DVRs for Massive Internet Attacks

I wouldn't say fools. The majority of people are clueless about basic cyber security. Vendors certainly don't make it easy to update their products, but they sure market and sell the crap out of them. I would say you are a fool if you were aware something would adversely affect you, but you...

    First tower. Solar Dahua.

If you can combine everything into one board, you won't need a switch or the rpi. Just run linux on the device with a read-only non-persistent filesystem. It can be your router/switch/3g modem. You will need to be conscious of power used, but it's worth looking into. Amazon has minipci 3g...

Check out pcengines or soekeris as well for a combo router/3g modem. Some of the versions come with embedded 3g modems. I use pcengines to run my firewall and have purchased from http://www.mini-box.com. Check that site out to get some ideas of a bundled communication system.

    Defragment storage on BI system

How often do you guys defragment the HDD on your Blue Iris system? I have a 250gb SSD for the OS and BI app, and a 4TB WD Purple drive for the new and storage clips. The WD drive shows 30% fragmentation often. Is it something to be concerned with given the use case? Would I get any benefit...

Who is watching you? Russian website puts local cameras online

I wanted to jump on this thread with another reason to properly secure your camera. One of the primary vectors of the Krebsonsecurity DDoS attack that happened recently were hijacked IoT (Internet of Things) systems. Think wifi enabled thermostats, etc. This article below describes how over...

    First tower. Solar Dahua.

I second the idea of using an arduino over the rpi. It will draw much less power and with some PWM routines in code you can modulate the speed of the fan vs temperature and save some of those valuable watts. There are so many examples online of people that use it for projects like this. You...

    Newbie looking for some help

I don't think his camera supports 802.3af. It comes with a 12v adapter to be plugged into the pigtail. I can't find any specs online that mention POE support and the fact that the camera says 12v/1A on the side of it makes me think it does not. He is using a POE splitter to inject the 12v...

    Newbie looking for some help

Does your camera support POE itself? I tried looking online for some specs but could not find anything other than the camera comes with its own power supply. Right now you are using POE splitters. An active POE injector assumes your camera supports POE. If not, you may need to get the power...

Look at using 24AWG cable and get an active POE injector like this one: https://www.amazon.com/TP-LINK-Gigabit-Injector-Adapter-TL-PoE150S/dp/B001PS9E5I/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1474915533&sr=1-3

    Newbie looking for some help

The main difference is the one you have is 26awg and the one I linked was 24awg. The AWG rating of the wire tells you how thick the conductor is. The higher the number, the smaller the wire. For data only uses, the thinner wire is ok. A POE camera receives power and data over the same cable...
