Tips for mounting turret under eve on soffit

Does anyone have any tips and/or tricks to mount a turret camera on the soffit? I've tried searching and only found a few references of it. My soffit is actually a vent, so it is open above where I plan to route the wires. The soffit itself is made of vinyl and is quite flimsy. Do you mount...

Calling @fenderman... need PC suggestion and migration advice

The best way to find out is to go on Dell's site and find the units mentioned. Or google its specs. That is what I did before I bought mine on ebay. I don't think the SFF models have much room inside to expand anything. When in doubt though, hit up google and pull down the specs.

    nayr's home automation build out...

I love the Unifi gear as well. I'm using the Ap-ac-pro access points and am happy with them. Do you have any issues w the 5ghz radio? There seemed to be a few issues with it. I love keeping wireless separate from router/firewall. That way you get the best of both worlds!

    Mixed LTS and HIK equipment

@fenderman - I forgot to add that this thread is about a backup option which I believe you should always have in every project. I can't see why BI won't work for my needs, but if it does not, I don't want to waste my money if I have to go to a vendor specific NVR solution.

    Mixed LTS and HIK equipment

I'm basing my windows opinions on prior experiences as a systems administrator. To be fair, it's been years since I managed windows servers and my last windows desktop was based on early win7. Most of my recent experience is with linux servers and my desktops are ubuntu and a couple Mac's. My...

Thanks, that is good to know. I may be using the "rebranding" term too loosely.

    Mixed LTS and HIK equipment

From what I read, it is ok to mix LTS and hikvision cameras/NVR because LTS is rebranded hikvision. My plan is to build a BI server and get one or two cameras to start learning on. I want to have a back out plan in case I have trouble with BI. I'm really nervous about the reliability of a...

I'm from Northampton County in the Lehigh Valley. I spent a couple of years in Luzerne Co at PSU Hazleton back in '93. Good ol' Laurel Mall!

    Oh great - another obsession!

Start a thread and call it "Where to start". Let the forum community add to it, then at some point close the thread and make it a sticky.

    Oh great - another obsession!

Greetings from Northeast PA! I started off with a potential $3k Lorex system and ended up on this wonderful site looking at NVR's. After lurking for a while, I believe I have set on a BI build (ordered the Optiplex 5040 i7-6700 from ebay). I like to tinker with things and I'm thinking BI will...

Good source to buy IP items at

Milkisbad, I'm interested in 3 and 4mp, 2.8, 4, and 6mm lens turret IP cameras. Can you please send me some pricing for those options? If a catalog is easier, I'll take that too. I'm in the market for 8 cameras. If I had enough posts, I would PM you. Thanks!
