    IPC-HFW5231E-Z12 LPR from 137 feet

So when I look at the BI video and go frame by frame, often times that is much better than the snapshot. But sometimes I can't catch anything, like in this video here.

    IPC-HFW5231E-Z12 LPR from 137 feet

Sorry if this is a dumb question. But how do I go frame by frame in BI?

    IPC-HFW5231E-Z12 LPR from 137 feet

So I had just been using the snapshot option in BI after the trigger. But, I will get a short clip, and post that. Will also make those changes you suggested. Thanks!

    IPC-HFW5231E-Z12 LPR from 137 feet

Ok, so I wasn't able to get new snaps before nightfall. Which is probably OK because at least I know that my daytime settings are close. Here is what I'm seeing at night. Any thoughts?

    IPC-HFW5231E-Z12 LPR from 137 feet

No, I have those settings selected "off". Is that the right choice?

    IPC-HFW5231E-Z12 LPR from 137 feet

Thanks bigredfish. I zoomed in a bit, and changed my bitrate and FPS to your suggestions. I'll report back with some snaps when I get new ones.

    IPC-HFW5231E-Z12 LPR from 137 feet

Ok, some updated shots with the settings recommend by bigredfish. It seems like some grabs are great, while a few others are not so great. But really I think things are looking good for day #1 of trying this out.

    IPC-HFW5231E-Z12 LPR from 137 feet

I received my IPC-HFW5231E-Z12 yesterday and have it up and running but I'd like help fine-tuning the details. This would be the permanent location for the mount. According to IPVM, it's about 100 feet to where I'm recording. I've attached my Day settings, along with a few snaps. First, I'd...

    New IPC-HFW5231E-Z12E but can't connect

Success! I had to set my computer's IP to the 192.xxx default. Then I could connect in IE. I'm able to find and connect to this camera in Blue Iris. But I don't have any option of zoom feature in BI. Is there something that I missed?

    New IPC-HFW5231E-Z12E but can't connect

Blue Iris on a computer. My computer's IP is 10.0.0.xx so I've changed all of my other IP cameras to that. But, I can't seem to even find this new camera in order to change it.

    New IPC-HFW5231E-Z12E but can't connect

I purchased a new IPC-HFW5231E-Z12E from Andy on Amazon. I have 5 other Dahua cameras that are running right now with no issues. I can't seem to connect to this new camera using the Dahua config tool. It doesn't even come up on the scan for me to reset the IP. I did a factory reset on the...

Blue Iris Continuous Recording Producing huge files

Just wanted to report back that it did solve my issue. I've got a little over 12 hours of recording clocking in around 17 GB.

Blue Iris Continuous Recording Producing huge files

Ah, nice catch. I had set it for four of my cameras but missed the fifth one. I made that change and hopefully that will solve it. Thanks!

Blue Iris Continuous Recording Producing huge files

I'm resurrecting this thread just so that anyone who stumbles on it might get help. I'm having the same issue. Going on the previous discussion, I checked my video settings on the camera. It's set to 1080p, 15 fps, with a bitrate of 3072 Kb/s, H.264H encode mode, CBR bit rate type. For 24...

    Am I doing this right?

Thanks bigredfish. I'll be honest- I tried to use OpenVPN, but it was too hard for me to understand with regards to certificates and everything. SoftEther was much simpler. Just wanted to make sure that I was not doing something dumb.

    Am I doing this right?

I've read the Cliff Notes and the overview of "what not to do". I set up my cameras for remote viewing and just want to make sure that I'm not doing anything dumb. I'm running Blue Iris on a Dell OptiPlex 3040, and I installed SoftEther VPN. It seems that I have to forward the UDP ports 500...

    Intermittent Camera Drop Outs

Thanks for the tips. What I found that it was camera and cable dependent. The camera in question worked fined on a shorter, store-made patch cable. And the other cameras worked fine on the longer, 100 foot cable. So it was something specific about the SD1A203T-GN not liking the 100 foot patch...

    Intermittent Camera Drop Outs

On a related note, are there recommended "hangers" that I should be using when I run these through my attic? I don't want to lay them directly on the joists for fear of damage, so I'd like to attach them a little elevated up on the trusses. Is it OK to use coax cable clamps, like these?

    Intermittent Camera Drop Outs

Oh, I see now, thanks. I missed that. I read about the importance of not choosing a cable with CCA conductors but didn't note the difference between stranded and solid copper.

    Intermittent Camera Drop Outs

Sorry, I need some help. What do you mean by solid copper cabling?

    Intermittent Camera Drop Outs

They are both 100 feet lengths of patch cable that I bought pre-made. But I will try the suggestion of seeing if the shorter cable fixes the issue with the intermittent camera.

    Intermittent Camera Drop Outs

I have 3 cameras connected in my system. 2 of them are IPC-T5442TM-AS and 1 of them is SD1A203T-GN, all from Andy. I have having trouble with the SD1A203T-GN and intermittent drop-outs in Blue Iris. I receive the error "8000274c" and within a few seconds, the camera reconnects. Today alone it...

Does a camera with these specs exist?

A 4mp, Starlight, varifocal turret camera? I can't seem to find one in Andy's store. I'd like the 4mp for future proofing, the Starlight for obvious reasons, the varifocal to be able to dial in my needs, and the turret for the discreetness. Thanks.

New to IP cams and I'm stuck. Help?

Ok, good news. I figured it out. It was all an issue with my computer IP address. Once I found my ipv4 address and set the camera to the same subnet, I was able to connect. Follow-up question, though. When I picked up the camera to move it, I noticed that it was warm. Like, really warm. I...

New to IP cams and I'm stuck. Help?

I purchased a Dahua PTZ camera from Andy's Amazon store. Starlight SD1A203T-GN. I also bought a 4x Netgear POE switch. I haven't decided yet on an NVR or computer running Blue Iris so I decided to run the demo version of Blue Iris in the meantime. I was able to connect and initialize the...

Hi Andy. I'm putting together a new system for my home. I'm confused about how many megapixels I really need. Is 2MP good enough? Or would it be better to go with the new 4MP models? Also looking for a NVR. Thanks!
