    My Speeding Dectector Setup

LOL of course you are correct. And I just may do that :) The neighbors play "Speeding or Not?". The kids gets to guess, and the adults get to take a shot. It's a pretty fun game, and shows how little one knows. This has being a 2 year experiment. I was in total shock of the actual speeds I...

Capture plates between these two poles?

OP I think this is doable. Good luck! I have the same camera and the distance isn't the issue. It's the angles, and IR light for night. I push my zoom wide open at 1.0 but you can do .89 as well. As settings go there is plenty of info here. I have found you need to control shutter speed both in...

Capture plates between these two poles?

As far as I can tell, nothing changes all that much. They limit storage, and they limit the number of "hits". Right now you re getting unlimited "hits". Every time data is sent to the API that's a "hit". If you let agent do the work of sending to API you are getting charged for 2-6 "hits". Some...

    My Speeding Dectector Setup

I care more about the people doing 45+ in a 25mph zone. We have lots of kids who walk to school while the teachers race to school at 50 mph. That's what I care about. Top speed ? 84mph How do people even remotely justified that? They don't. They come with stupid and unjustifiable excuses. There...

Capture plates between these two poles?

That's kind of amazing. That 53 degree angle would blow it for me. Nice shot! I can get 200 feet at about 25-30 degree angle with a 55mm camera, but not at that angle. Are you using the commercial OpenALPr version?

Sorry I took so long. I started this thread -> Speeder Detection with LPR and RADAR (technical posts only!!) I will add to it as time permits. This thread will be for political questions, and attacks. It appears to me that the very few who attack have no solution. None at all.

Speeder Detection with LPR and RADAR (technical posts only!!)

I think you guys want the cropped night shots. One camera is the 41, and the other is an older 31. I'm going to replace it soon and see if it helps. rarely gets this plate correct.

Software: Blue Iris - Currently using BI to record with 4 cameras plus property security. I want to get away from BI but not ready YET. Python - Turns out this a great language to work with. I just started learning it a few months ago, so bare with me. Routines and functions. Camera control -...

Speeder Detection with LPR and RADAR (technical posts only!!)

Radar Explained: The reason we added radar with our cameras is to get calibrated and accurate speed readings. Even though everyone will tell you, you can't arrest anyone off the collected data, you will be attacked about "calibration, and certification". (see political thread) Make sure you buy...

    My Speeding Dectector Setup

Well this month will be the 1st report sent to the city. I picked out 10-12 speeders one had 22 hits, basically twice a day. System had been up and down all month long. LPR works good some days, other days not so good. We had a Dodge Changer hit 84mph in the dark with fog, road was wet. I use...

Well I didn't do the KPH vs MPH conversion correctly. MPH x 1.6 = KPH. You will have no luck getting attention for anything under 35mph (56kph) in the US. In CA they can't arrest anyone under 35mph on any "non compliant road". I guess they have to certify speed limits on each road.

I'm at at loss at what 85% do the y want? Looks like your average speed is 29mph. So what? You want to clip the people going over 35 or so. This chart gives you blind statistics. It's close to what my city gives off their radar sign setups. You must be getting pattern times as well? The way I...

    LPR Night Time Settings

I'm heavy on the HLC -> 70 Tune focus in the day, and then set to manual. Everything else is the same as above or fairly close. Thats for night mode. I think we all switch between day/night mode. Some use the Surise/Sunset program. Others use schedule. I use web commamds via Python code. Good Luck

Well you convinced me to attend my city council meetings, thanks. Right on about two open seats. We know better than to show up new, and start some shit. We did get another newspaper article due to the ALPR system now in operation.

Start with the Sportster III radar gun with display. For $300 you can get an idea of whats up. We are not ready to release code just yet. Stay tuned. Besides you would have to get the Certified, and calibrated DRU III radar unit. 400-500 just to start. I started with and still use the Sportster...

    My Speeding Dectector Setup

Believe me, we tried to think most of these objections already. No one is recorded unless they exceed the limit. Your interpretation is wrong about the speeding. It was reduced from over 50% to 10-20% when the cameras went up. We use to exceed 50 mph every 2 hours, 40 mph every 20 minutes. That...

    IPC-HFW5231E-Z12 LPR from 137 feet

Use the web API commands below to control and lock down your camera. I haven't had any issues once I found a sweet spot, and put the focus in manual mode. Use the Adjust focus/zoom and then check the positions. You will catch the focus/zoom not going into the correct positions. The night focus...

Sunrise/Sunset utility replaces the schedule. You place camera in "Normal" mode. It also sets the zoom and focus position. leave the camera in manual focus once you determine night/day focus. What camera are you using?

I'm using the same camera. Your posts attracted me to it. I'm waiting for two more. Jose R. don't be discouraged, these cameras work they just tale a little patience. The solution seems to be not to use the web gui for focusing, and setting nigh/day mode. The dahua utility sounds find to me. I...

Need Python Code to Find Vehicle

I would like to pre-check recorded video frames I will feed this to OPENALPR (free). I would rather send good frames instead of the raw video frames (cropped). It would also be nice to have front and rear vehicle shot. Sooo... I need a program that recognizes a vehicle quickly. It would be...

    OPENALPR - Cloud config question..

I can confirm the night time focus loss is due the Dahua camera being in "auto-focus" instead of manual. The auto focus positions are inaccurate at night. I can tune much better manually. The servo positioning sucks too. Still a great camera. Does the Bosch have a 10-60mm lens for zooming?

Thank You, that's greatly appreciate. I'm no politician. very honest, and WYSIWYG. The city manager is a ok dude. I can tell he is honest as he can be. He understands God and teamwork. Na, we got it. We learned some new software tricks. We got the whole sunrise/sunset working. It is much better to control the camera with software then the web interface. You put the camera in manual focus, force any backlash out. I'm sending commands every 15 minutes but think that is...

Thank you about time. For the rest of you radar is much better now that sound is now digital. It’s represented by symbols. You can’t separate two vehicles going in the same direction. You can but the system isn’t fast enough. There are 5 cameras trained on the speeder. We can see clearly...
