The aurora is right above you. It only looks like that when the view is from beneath it. From where I get aurora videos it is usually 300 to 400 miles away. -

Aurora Through Seattle Clouds Sept 12 2024
Strong and near enough to appear on all four of my sky cams. Possibly extra strong due to the special magnetic orientation of the Earth that lets more energy leak through in September. I'm in the opposite situation of using SecuritySpy and have full flexibility in size/shape of my display layouts. Having enough SCO oomph plus giving users the option of aspect ratio will remain a future dream. -

Unfortunately, that is still the horizontally squeezed 4096/1800 ratio of 1:2.28 It isn’t until you drop down to 3840/1080 that you get the un-squeezed ratio of 1:3.56 Without squeeze the frame would look more like.... Instead of the horizontally squeezed... I wonder if the problem is... -

Wow. That would be good. I decided not to get a T180 because of the geometry distortion when at full 1800 height resolution. Is this actually the full 1800 vertical resolution without the squeezed aspect ratio? More pointedly, what are the actual resolution options now with FW 3.120.0.35R? -

I have both lens versions but prefer the 3.6 mm image. They are only tilted up about 60 degrees, well within adjustment range of standard turret mount- guykuo

Doe Foraging
Got a nice capture of a doe on one of my PTZ's that doesn't have a microphone. Plus it was too far away to have picked up good sound (200 feet). No matter, a fun dawdle in Final Cut Pro to add quicky ambience sound track and effects. It's not perfect, but better than no audio.- guykuo

I wish my westward skies were as dark as towards the east. Still, I'm grateful for what viewing has been possible so close to Seattle and Bellevue. A little light pollution wipes out a lot of sights.- guykuo

OMG Thermal!
Black bear in clearing. SecuritySpy detected as motion on the thermal channel. Looked heavier than a deer in thermal and visual confirmed it was a young black bear. -
Dahua have varifocal 20-80mm 8MPx with 1/1.2" sensor!!!

Tree sap on sensor
A 50/50 mix of distilled water and 99% isopropyl plus 5 drops of Dawn in 750 ml spray bottle is my go to cleaning solution for large lenses that cannot be removed and washed. Mix uses 99% isopropyl because the rubbing variant can contain additives that leave a residue. Use Dawn original formula... -
