    Review-Dahua Starlight IPC-HDW5231R-ZE 800 meter capable ePOE

Summer is almost here and so are the insects. Apparently the area around the camera is attractive to spiders since every night I get several recordings of spiders crossing the image or the webs in the wind. I've set my camera to record on tripwire with 2 areas; one zigzag line at the beginning...

    Wyze Cam v2 - Anyone Tested - $19.99 - good reviews!

Managed to get it working. Instead of formatting the microSD Card on the PC, I formatted the card trough the Mi Home app. Now I have a nice 720p camera, with RTSP stream (usable with VLC and TinyCam Pro app). Now I have to think about what to do with it. I can use it as a baby monitor and we...

    Wyze Cam v2 - Anyone Tested - $19.99 - good reviews!

Looks like it's from the same OEM as the SPOT ISC5 and Xiaomi XiaoFang. Don't know about the firmware, software and app of this one or the Spot, but for the Xiaomi it's terrible. I'm not sure what the situation is today, but I think it's still the case the Xiaomi can't be used outside of China...

Dahua day/night settings - the basics

To me, this is the biggest drawback of the Dahua camera's. You have the opportunity of specifying the settings for day and night yet the camera can't change between them at sunrise/sunset. Only if you set specific times for each or use a script on a external PC. So this leaves me changing those...

    Review-Dahua Starlight IPC-HDW5231R-ZE 800 meter capable ePOE

I do. It's not terrible, but still. I think I'm going to experiment with some sort of foam on top of it to reduce it somewhat.

About that microphone, has anyone had the idea of placing some sort of foam on top of it, to reduce wind noise? Just a little piece could be enough.

    Dahua 5231R-Z vs SD59225U-HNI WDR

I just stumbled on this topic after searching on this forum on WDR, BLC and HLC (to figure out if I should use it, which one of them and whether during the day and/or at night). I just played around with the settings and it looks like WDR is only working on the 5231R-ZE (I have the -ZE, but the...

Thanks. Any reason why you've chosen Auto Mode in Exposure? Don't you have issues with unsharp images of people (ghost) for example?

So..what settings do you guys use? I know every situation is different, some have streetlamps, some have external IR-emitters, some are in a pitch black setting. But I'm just curious. In my situation there are some street lights, but they don't give near enough light to be usable for the...

    New setup: 2 camera's and a NVR

I'm not talking bad about anyone. I was just suprised that after all the talk on this forum about discounts; I actually got quoted a higher price then the regular prices on Aliexpress. Do note; I was not expecting any major discounts; I know the competition on Aliexpress is enormous and he can't...

    New setup: 2 camera's and a NVR

I had email contact with Andy but he quoted higher prices for the NVR's then on his Aliexpress shop; the camera's the same. The whole setup with NVR, junction boxes and 2 5231 cameras would rise to about €450 which is more then my brother and I decided on a few months ago. The same setup with...

Where do you buy your Dahua Cams?

I've just send you an email for either of those two camera's with junction boxes and 1 or 2 of those NVR's. I look forward to hearing from you.

Where do you buy your Dahua Cams?

Interestly; the IPC-HDW5231R-ZE at BEC/Empire Tech is listed several times: BEC: - €123,32 + €30,59 (DHL) = €153,91 - €148,33 (free DHL shipping) Empire Tech: - €138,24 (free DHL shipping) But I don't want DHL, I want the slow shipping to Europe/Netherlands. Should I expect to pay the €123...

    New setup: 2 camera's and a NVR

While still deciding on what lens we should get for the IPC-HDW4231EM-ASE cameras, using the screenshots from my IPC-HDW5231R-ZE, I started to look around on Aliexpress. A few months ago I needed €400 for the following: (cameras, wall mounts and NVR from Andy) - NVR4104-4KS2 - IPC-HDW4231EM-ASE...

Using vari-focal camera to determine focal length of fixed-focus camera

I know, I used that too. Still; it's not the nicest look is it? :p Thanks, will do. Just figuring out what lens we need, it's actually pretty difficult. So it will take some time to decide.

    New setup: 2 camera's and a NVR

Today I used my IPC-HDW5231R-ZE to figure out what lens is needed in this situation on the IPC-HDW4231EM-ASE. More info here: Using vari-focal camera to determine focal length of fixed-focus camera I'm not sure yet, but it looks like it'll be 2.8mm with one of the camera's in portrait mode...

Using vari-focal camera to determine focal length of fixed-focus camera

Today I dismounted my IPC-HDW5231R-ZE and took it to my brothers house trying to figure out what lens he needs on the IPC-HDW4231EM-ASE. I tried both using the slider and @truglo s method with the URL's. I will compare them tomorrow, but my first impression is that they are pretty much the...

Using vari-focal camera to determine focal length of fixed-focus camera

So all the times I've read on this forum about using a vari-focal camera to determine the focal length of a fixed focus camera is pretty much based on wild guessing?

Using vari-focal camera to determine focal length of fixed-focus camera

I've read several times on this (very informative by the way) forum using this technique. I'm planning to do this too: New setup: 2 camera's and a NVR But here's the question; how exactly do you do that? Personally, I have the IPC-HDW5231R-ZE which goes from 2.7mm to 13.5mm. For another setup...

@truglo That's really cool feature. Didn't know about that and is indeed much more usefull. :) This particular thread is not that active so I may start a new thread about using a vari-focal camera to determine the focal length for a non-varifocal camera.

    Review-Dahua Starlight IPC-HDW5231R-ZE 800 meter capable ePOE

I have the IPC-HDW5231R-ZE. This vari-focal camera goes 2.7mm ~13.5mm. Now I want to buy some IPC-HDW4231EM-ASE for a family member. I want to use my camera to determine what lens that 4231 camera needs in our situation (2.8mm, 3.6mm or 6mm). This method has been talked about a lot on this...

    Review-Dahua Starlight IPC-HDW5231R-ZE 800 meter capable ePOE

Yes, I've found that. Unfortunately I don't have a Windows PC running 24/7. Only a Qnap NAS. So, until Dahua solves this problem, I guess I'll have to stick to Schedule mode; changing the sunrise/sunset times every so often... Indeed. I've set both to manual. Day on 1/1000 shutter speed, gain...

So I have this camera for some time now when I upgraded to this from a Hikvision DS-2CD2132F-IWS. Some thoughts: - I solved the Hik's biggest issue; IR reflection on the dome. This is definitely the biggest advantage of the Dahua. - Therefore; the low-light capabilities are also better. I'm...

    New setup: 2 camera's and a NVR

My brother is thinking about installing a system consisting of 2 camera's and a NVR. I have the IPC-HDW5231R-ZE camera and I'm quite happy with it. He has it temporarily installed behind a window. From this forum, I've read the IPC-HDW4231EM-ASE is reasonable comparable, apart from the...
