Designing my first IP camera system, would appreciate advice

Oops. If using the zyxel, change POE to consumption. Depending on how you mount the camera, yes, IR on the bottom.

Designing my first IP camera system, would appreciate advice

Here is the link to the 8 port fanless that I install in residential use. http://a.co/0chl5qQ Using a POE 1-4 splitter, you can easily power 4 Turrets with this (make sure you change the . Remember, you need 1 port to go to your router and 1 to go to your NVR. This switch does a great job...

The Dahua PFA137 Box will drop you down the camera down another 1.25". The lens will be approximately 3.5" from the mounting base, when mounted at 0 degrees angle (As straight forward as it goes) and the camera at 0 degrees rotation (IR at the bottom). Rotating it 180 degrees (IR on top, which...

Designing my first IP camera system, would appreciate advice

If you are going external POE, you don't need a POE NVR. Save the money and get the NON-POE version. I don't see any boxes, but the boxes I use when I surface wire under vinyl siding are dahua boxes I buy from Andy @EMPIRETECANDY . They are made for the camera. When shopping for switches...

    Zyxel Switch

At 70 watts, you should be able to handle 8 cams. You can also use one or two of these. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0198H6EUK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Zyxel Switch

I have a 24 port in an install. Luckily, it is not in an area that gets used. It is loud. Good switch, just wouldn't use it where it would be heard.

To Port Forward or Not To Port Forward?

My home, I use VPN. Customers, I use port forwarding, and tell them the VPN is the safer bet. Most are not interested. They don't want the added steps of tunneling in before connecting to the cameras. And, many times, it also means added equipment, like a new router. I do my best to make it...

EB5400 install in a high bay shop

Been slowly converting over a shop from analog to digital. Latest install, which you see in the pic, was a fisheye in the center of one of the shops. Never using a fisheye, I opted to get a EB5400 from @EMPIRETECANDY just in case it didn't work as planned and it wouldn't be a huge investment...

    POE powered splitter?

I have the 1 to 4, bought for a customer install. POE+ powering it, and tested perfect with 3 cams running IR.

    1 to 4 PoE Extender

One last test tonight, turned all 3 Starlights to night mode, 100% IR. Drawing just under 16.4 watts. The 1 to 4 switch is slightly warm to the touch. No issues running 3 cams at 10FPS VBR, Highest quality.

    1 to 4 PoE Extender

Testing, running 3 Starlight Turrets, one with IR. Pulling 11.6 watts.

    1 to 4 PoE Extender

I love this option. I run my POE+ Switch and NVR on a UPS, and using this still allows whatever is connected to it to still be on UPS backup.

Accepting Card Payments For Part Time/On the Side Installers

How many of you little guys accept card payments? If you do, what do you use? Do you like it? Fees? Pros and cons? Right now, I am using PayPal here card reader. 2.7% fee on swiped cards. For me, it is nice to know that 1) I am paid fast and 2) I don't have to run to the bank and 3) No...

    Craptastic Router Network Congestion

I am looking for a little advice and probably trying to gain some knowledge. I am still fairly new in the IP Cam installation, having installed regular cameras back in the day. But, I have been tinkering with networks for a while. So, I had a customer install, where I installed 4 Starlights...
