    Blue Iris UI3

Is there any way to use UI3 from an external pc that connects to its own vpn? For example, I have a work laptop that has a mobile hotspot that I use to connect to the internet, and that the connects to the work VPN. I use OpenVPN to get into BI on my network from an external non-work source...

IPC-HDW5231R-ZE Rhea V2.800.0000016.0.R.200430 Latest new firmware

IPC-HDW5231R-ZE Rhea V2.800.0000016.0.R.200430 Latest new firmware

I’ve always been terrified to do any firmware updates on cameras. I’ve had my 5231’s for about 2 years and have never updated because I don’t want to fix something that’s not broken and potentially cause it to break or not function perfectly as it has for the last 2 years. Is this ok? They are...

    CPU 100%

Clear on the PAL and NTSC. I was thinking I could probably get the CPU rate lower but I’m not sure what else I could change.

    CPU 100%

FYI... dropped CPU to around 13% from 40% by lowering FPS to 15 from 30 and utilizing sub streams. Only slight pain was resetting motion zones, but not too big of a deal! Thank you everyone for your input. side note, I noticed two of my cams purchased from Andy are PAL (I live in the US)...

    CPU 100%

Looking forward to giving it a try! May also look into external IR blaster to increase lighting and reduce motion blur. @sebastiantombs will recording this second sub stream in addition to the main stream take up a lot of recording space?

    CPU 100%

Fantastic! I was unaware of the update that allowed for these sub stream options. I will definitely check it out. I’d like to avoid having to upgrade anything if necessary.

    CPU 100%

I’ll definitely give it a try. I assume, then, that I shouldn’t really be having issues with maxing out CPU?

    CPU 100%

@sebastiantombs @IReallyLikePizza2 I appreciate it. Personal preference is super smooth video, although I know it’s not necessary. I also have low light issues at night, so I try to cut down on motion blur with a higher FPS.

Are you doing direct to disk recording? yes What FPS are the cameras set to, and what resolution are they? cameras are set to 25-30 FPS, 2mp

New here ! Advice on pc?

How do you use sub streams only for motion processing? My pc runs about 40% with a i5 4590 with 100% at one cam playback, looking to decrease
  15. C

    CPU 100%

This is certainly a dumb question, but if BI is telling me that my CPU is hitting 100% on video playback (40ish% when idle with 5 cams) and sometimes if other processes are running in the background, is it simply a matter of upgrading the CPU? This is what I purchased from eBay in Feb 2019...

Heads up... Windows 10 Feature Update for v1909 removes the Dahua Sunrise/Sunset service

I was wondering what the hell happened!! The W10 update coincided with my upgrade from BI4 to 5 and I was stumped why my upgrade would uninstall the service. Makes sense now.

    New Firmware for IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea_MultiLang_PN_Stream3_V2.800.0000013.0.R.191202.zip

So, if I have never upgraded the firmware since I purchased my 5231-ZE's in from Andy 2018, should I bother if nothing is broken and working fine? The only things I believe I'd want from the update are Dahua's stock day/night automatic functionality (I use BP2008's sunrise/sunset service...

    DH_IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea_MultiLang_NP_Stream3_V2.800.0000005.0.R.190325.zip

Hey guys, Old thread- I know. I'd like to upgrade to this current firmware from 2.622.0000000.31.R, Build Date: 2018-08-13 for my 5231's, however I'm having trouble finding exactly how to do that. From my understanding, I'm supposed to go into each camera's UI and export their settings...

So- my question is: I have an old set of 815's laying around from a previously system. Has anyone successfully hooked these up to BI?

Any preferred source for UPS for BI PC/PoE Switch?

@nuraman00 that's the correct PC. Thanks @fenderman. I tried looking at some charts and calculations but it's clearly just going right over my head. With that system and a Cyberpower 850VA/510W system, do you have an estimate on what the run time would be?

Any preferred source for UPS for BI PC/PoE Switch?

Honestly, I'm not sure what the max watts is- it would be a HP Prodesk, PoE switch, 4 cams currently with more coming, and monitor/keyboard. I was looking at this one that @fenderman recommended.

Any preferred source for UPS for BI PC/PoE Switch?

Happy to find this thread- I've also got a G1 Prodesk and have the same needs as @Frankenscript, however would rather not spend $180 on a UPS right now. We are leaving for vacation in a few weeks and are prone to power flickers and very brief outages (usually just long enough to reset all the...

    CCA Cable

Thanks @mat200 , good idea. I'll do that while installing the new cable (bought a 1000ft roll from monoprice on amazon (wish they had a 500ft roll for half the cost, but that's ok)) and compare the picture. I'll report back if I notice any difference once I dive into that project.

    CCA Cable

I'll check it out. I have a feeling it's mostly because I had zoomed in my 5231 into an area in my driveway and around my car with insufficient light (was hoping to get better facial identification, but I guess I need to add more light first). I'll also check out those noise reduction settings...

    CCA Cable

I see. Either way, I'd like to upgrade, but was hoping it might resolve some ghosting/pixelation issues I'm having with moving objects (mostly people/faces) at night in low light. I was thinking (and hopeful) that the CCA cable might be affecting video quality.
  26. C

    CCA Cable

I understand that. It's already installed as that is what was installed previously and I'm looking to upgrade to solid copper. But, I've also been having video quality problems, hence me asking if CCA will degrade video quality (and, therefore, if I'll see better quality video if/when I...

    BI CPU 100% on playback

Thanks @bp2008! I'll give it a try and see how it goes. I've read that some people experience "side effects" from using the "Also BVR" checkbox so that has been the cause of my hesitation.
  29. C

    BI CPU 100% on playback

@bp2008 you're right. So do you think this is typical for an i5-4590 processor and is just something I'll have to deal with or upgrade? I guess I'm just wondering if it's abnormal or not and, if it is abnormal, if there's a fix for it.
  30. C

    BI CPU 100% on playback

@fenderman interestingly, I got it down to 10% with live preview on the console after some adjustments with Intel GPU options, still 100%, though, at 4 camera playback at 4x the speed. It's running super well with everything EXCEPT playback. Could it really be drawing that much CPU power by...
