    What's wrong with this cam?

Curious if anyone had any ideas what might be wrong with the pic from my cam? Seems as though it just started that pinkish area yesterday (where the grass is). Thoughts?

Sometimes people want to check camera placement before actually "punching" that hole through the wall, siding, brick, etc, etc, etc.......

What can I say other than You The MAN! LOL Default password was a variation of what you quoted: abc12345 I was successful with logging in and changing password. Thanks so much for your assistance!

    Hik key "Reset Password Failed"

Yes, I have even tried 1234567a, a1234567, 1234567A, A1234567, 12345, 123456789ABC, ABC123456789, etc, etc, etc to no avail. I attempted to take out the 3 set screws and was going to look for a hard reset inside the cam but can't figure out how the cam comes away from the metal base. I tried...

    Hik key "Reset Password Failed"

All- Just a little background, I purchased a 2342 from ebay and went to configure and install over the weekend and ran into some issues. Upon bringing up SADP the cam was activated and required the admin password. I tried several "known" passwords that are floating around the web and this...

what program to use for android tv to view live stream

Even though its an android based tv I do not believe you can just load any app you would like from the app store. I believe you can only use the "pre-loaded" android apps that the display comes with.... As @MrRalphMan indicated he is using an Amazon Fire tv module to load a specific android...

    NVR ?

Thanks for the response nayr...appreciate it! I went ahead and had him purchase the 16 CH version (4216) in order to accommodate additional cams down the road!

    NVR ?

One more ?....does anyone know if the 4208 is always the 4k model or do they make various models within (4k and non 4k) 4208? Only reason I am asking is because I am looking at various listings on ebay for the 4208 and some specifically say 4k and some listing don't mention it at all? Thanks....

Help with camera POE and design

Will make no difference at all....doesn't matter if you have 5 switches interconnecting cams as long as they are all networked together and can get to the outside (router / if you mean for remote access)...if you just mean access while at home over wifi...that will work as well.

Help with camera POE and design

Nothing "wrong" with that at all....you will just have to run multiple wires to attic for the cams but the game room seems close enough to where that won't be a big PITA. Then you can just use the homerun wire to go back down to closet to tie in rest of network and other cams if needed.

Help with camera POE and design

I'd be leery about putting a POE switch in an attic with the extreme temps...so you could either run more home run cables if you have conduit / chase or maybe put a switch in a closet on second floor and run wiring from there to attic.

    NVR ?

Thanks for your assistance zero....I do understand that this is only an issue when buying hacked firmware cams off Amazon, Ebay, AE, etc....which is most likely going to be the case here due to price constraints. Let's face it, you can buy a cam off AE for ~75 versus a "legit" company and save...

    NVR ?

All- Wondering if someone can help me out....I am not well versed on NVR's as I run a BI pc for my cams. My buddy wants to install a home surveillance system in his new home and right now we walked through and planned for 6 cams (eventually upgrading to 8 over time). He is looking at Dahua...

    Day/Night Mode?

Thanks to the both of you for your help....I will attempt to hook separate POE switch into router / home switch and see if the NVR picks up that there are more cams that can be connected and configures IP addressing for them. If not I may need to add manually....more to come after I try this...

    Day/Night Mode?

I mispoke....the problem I am having is it is not letting me add anymore cameras even though I have a separate POE switch hooked up. Maybe I have it hooked up incorrectly? I have 16 POE's on the NVR...so the last POE port on the NVR (Port 16) I have a patch cable going from that to the 8 port...

    Day/Night Mode?

zero (or anyone else for that matter) - I have a 32 CH NVR with 16 ports filled up on the NVR unit plus a few more via a connected POE switch. All cams are working as designed...my only question is this: how do you enable a setting in "Live View" to see more than the default 16 cams that are...

    Day/Night Mode?

Thanks for your help Nayr and Zero....total cam count is 20. I was thinking about dropping down to 2MP (1920x1080) to save a little on capacity....I assume this would allow me keep FPS up around 15-20 as you indicated is best for the environment? The NVR states 256MB Bandwidth and it's a 32...

    Day/Night Mode?

One other thing I forgot to ask input on is FPS setting...I am doing some calculations and coming up with ~10TB of storage is needed for 3MP cams at 10FPS (7 days / 24 hrs a day). Can I cut down the FPS to 5 or so in order to reduce capacity a little without comprising video recording? And...

    Day/Night Mode?

Yeah we have a 32 CH NVR with 16 ports POE built-in and the rest need to be hooked up with another 8 port POE switch. I guess I will only be able to connect to 16 of those cams via the VH and then the rest I will need to connect directly to the cam since they are on the 8 port switch? I will...

    Day/Night Mode?

    DDNS requirements

OP- Two things... 1. Piggybacking off of what both Nayr and looney2ns...my dynamic IP never changes (Comcrap) unless you replace modem....stayed the same for years. 2. From experience...I would not sign up for free DDNS with any service because they require you to log on monthly to verify...

    IP Cameras, Multiple Locations

@illuzionx check out this thread that I started a few weeks back: Camera Recommendation for POS stations? It contains a lot of good info about how to cover POS stations in a bar type environment. Garage Cam placement advice please

Without knowing the "exact" dimensions of the garage it's really hard to say...I have a 4mm in my garage and I see both garage doors and my personnel door right next to it. So a 4mm can work depending on layout....I find that a 2.8 is way to wide and gives you limited viewing distance at night.

    Garage Cam placement advice please

@nbstl68 is there anyway you can get say a 4mm turret on the other side of the garage that way you can have a view of all 3 access doors (door to the backyard, door to the house, and garage door)? Basically if you are standing in front of the garage door, mount cam on left side of garage (over...

Suggestions on a new kit system for a noob

OP- Listen to the advice from fenderman...he knows what he is talking about! Just run the wire and piece meal the system together of either hik or dahua turrets from Ali and also an nvr. You will save yourself a shit load of money and future frustration when the boxed systems look like crap:)

I see this posted a lot on this forum, especially when a new member inquires about purchasing their first cam, and just wanted some additional clarification if possible. Just to preface, I have no "horse in this race" as I do not have any wifi cameras (all 12 of mine are wired). So with the...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

Just wanted to comment that this is an excellent suggestion by nayr and not only public wif / guest wifi environments but also in the business world. For example, your work may block port 5080 but they sure as hell are not going to block 443 (typically) due to https sites. This used to work...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

Yes, the switch would be installed after your modem. Not to confuse the situation to much but in an enterprise / corporate level switches are almost always "layer 3" meaning they route between vlans as well.
