    Need some camera help .

The second link for the TP Link switch will be fine. And all you "need" is cat 5e technically because you will not reach 1000Mbps.

    Need some camera help .

That motorized bullet would be the ticket with a varifocal lens if you can spend a bit more than the other bullet cams you posted before hand. That way you can adjust the zoom level for more clarity and detail. Also most folks run POE switches which send power and data down the same cat...

Cam Location Pic (2.8mm or 4mm)?

Thanks for the input nayr....appreciate it. Before I purchased one I thought I would check with some real world opinions on how the turrets compare with the Hik's. I read on another forum that someone thought the day pic was about the same but it was lacking at night....compared to the Hik. I...

Problems with remotly access to my ipcam

OP- see above...mostly likely this is your problem especially since the cam is accessible from inside your LAN. Also, as many here will advise..you really shouldn't forward ports from a security standpoint and instead setup a VPN. Of course on the other hand if you are not experienced with...

Cam Location Pic (2.8mm or 4mm)?

bp- Thanks for the feedback on the camera choice and illuminators. I was mostly referencing settings within the camera that could possibly be changed like saturation, contrast, brightness, WDR, etc but appreciate the advice about the external IR illuminator. Also, I have some other areas that...

Cam Location Pic (2.8mm or 4mm)?

Hey all...I know its been awhile since I started this thread but I finally just got around to taking some snapshots of the replacement cam I installed for the backyard pic (as taken in my first post): Any suggestions on improving either shot (day / night) are certainly welcome. Thanks for...

    Camera Recommendation for POS stations?

Good idea about the temp placement to see how we like the view. And no we are not trying to chase out drug dealers...more or less just to keep an eye on the patrons and if anything "were" (maybe I should say when things "do") happen at least we have some cam footage to look at:)

    Camera Recommendation for POS stations?

BTW, what is everyone's thoughts about putting 2.8mm turrests on the walls to watch over the table areas say 10-12 feet high versus putting them on the ceiling (due to the ceiling being so high...would not get a lot of facial recognition I wouldn't think)?

    Camera Recommendation for POS stations?

Yep I was thinking about that as well but if I remember correctly I remember reading (I believe Nayr even mentioned it) that if you mismatch NVR's and cams with different region codes you "can" run into issues with compatibility and so forth. And we all know when buying from places like...

    Camera Recommendation for POS stations?

Yep, was planning on possibly doing a varifocal bullet for the POS stations which will give me the 2.8-12mm lens. Wanting to put it in close proximity to the stations and really focus in on the cash drawer / machine / etc. All valid points and noted! Thanks... Already all it...have...

    Camera Recommendation for POS stations?

Or just tell them that there are internal devices / boxes within the POS machine and transactions are being logged...that along with the IP cam may be just enough...lol

    Camera Recommendation for POS stations?

Nayr- That's pretty slick for sure. Didn't even know something like that existed! Prob a little more in depth than what's needed but def something to keep in the back of my mind. Most likely we will probably just rely on a cam directly above or within the direct vicinity of the POS station...

    Camera Recommendation for POS stations?

CaliGirl- Yes, I have purchased some overseas cams for myself in the past and personally I am fine with that. However for this project I would feel a little more comfortable buying from US and also having a warranty from places like Nelly's or LTS. I may be able to get away with a 4mm turret...

    Camera Recommendation for POS stations?

All- Does anyone have any recommendations for cams viewing point of sale stations / terminals for bar / pub type of environment? I am helping a buddy replace some older analog cams and we will be getting a new IP / NVR system (most likely sticking with Hik for all cams) and 5 are needed just...

    Long distance camera install guidance

The OP has multiple pairs of 22awg wire so maybe he can even twist some together to make a larger gauge (16-18 for example) which may stretch it out to reach the pole at 1000ft.

    4G LTE cam(s) install

All- Been doing some reading / research and wanted to get some feedback and also suggestions on possibly doing a 4G LTE cam setup. More specifically my parents are inquiring about adding one or two internal cams inside their RV so they can periodically monitor activities while away. What I...

Using Port Triggering instead of Port Forwarding

Nayr- Sorry to drag up an old thread...but I'd like to try my hand at setting up a vpn server on a desktop or something I have laying around. Curious to see what vpn server app / program you use specifically for the PPTP+IPSec protocol. I am getting really nervous in my old age of having all...

    Opening Garage Door?

I don't have any experience with those...not even sure where to begin. They seem like nice concepts...especially the raspberry pi. Yeah I understand what your saying there....only thing I was thinking is there are some neat functions within some apps called pulse relay's that allow you to...

    Opening Garage Door?

Sorry to keep harping on this...but any ideas on specific cameras to use or any in your opinion with Alarm I/O connections? Didn't know if you were aware of the voltage or anything...don't necessarily want to blow up the board on my opener from trying to pass through to many volts!

    Opening Garage Door?

My opener is 10 years old so I assume it is the older technology and not the serial communication you speak of:)

    Opening Garage Door?

Should I "tap" into the wires leading to the push button on the wall or connect straight to the terminal block on the back of the opener on the ceiling (or it doesn't really matter)? And I assume we are saying to just get an IP cam with outputs and go directly to the opener...no need to put in...

    Opening Garage Door?

@nayr....just wanted to re-post this thread in hopes that you may be able to offer a solution due to you doing a decent amount of "home automation" in your current setup? Any ideas on how I can get an IP cam w/alarm outputs or some other type of relay module to work for this specific task? Any...

Firm up choices for Cam Location...detailed pics included!

Thanks for the suggestion...I will try it. I just want to be sure I get the "personnel" door next to the garage doors due to that being a viable entrance. Did not want to point the cam to far to the left and miss the night shot of someone trying to get in the door on the right.

Help with HD Wi-Fi IP Camera Recommendation for Home Use - Babies' Room.

OP- If you can run a wire, def run a wire. Streaming a quality pic from wireless is futile. We have had the Hikvision IR Cube DS‑2CD2432F‑IW up in our babies room now for almost 2 years and it's been rock solid (knock on wood). I would think you would be more than happy with the quality. We...

LTS Cams (Hik rebrand) to work with smartphone apps?

Within the camera settings or the smartphone app settings? I am fairly positive I have the settings correct. I even used a new cam that I did not change any port info on (used default settings: 80 / 554 / 8000) and still nothing. If you use one of these apps and have the same camera would...

LTS Cams (Hik rebrand) to work with smartphone apps?

Anyone else that has bought LTS (rebranded Hiks) have trouble getting them to work with both popular smartphone apps (ipcam viewer pro and tiny cam monitor pro)? The only camera driver / type that works with these cams that I can find (after finally doing a scan) is the generic ONVIF for camera...
