win10 Logitech 9000 usb webcam in blueiris

Do you have the Logitech or Skype app while you are trying to get it to show in BI? I have found that, for reasons I don't have the knowledge to discern, if the Camera is being used for any other app it won't show in BI. I found that true with the Logitech App and with Yawcam. The inverse is...

What Cat cable, Cat ends and Crimping tool?

I second this one. Indispensable and a GREAT deal compared to the big box stores. Also some cheap foam kneepads at Harbor Freight or HD. They won't slip on rafters and when they're worn just buy some new ones. And if you like to have a backup for future proofing your runs down walls, some...

Dahua outdoor camera recommendation for porch installation

Just bought this one on FleaBay. 2.8 Lens give it good spread and image is clear out to 150 to 200 feet. Good IR range. It has English firmware installed. Not upgradeable, but I can't think of why one would need to. Not sure what you mean by alarm in/out, so I can't comment there. Fast shipping...

Not sure you have solved this yet or if this will help but these are my settings for my Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 running BI4 on W10: Size 1920 x 1080 Max. rate 666667 [15.00 fps] H.264 HW decode: Yes(no VPP) Advanced Video Standard: Default Stream/Format MJPG 1920 x 1080 30 FPS

    BI Viewer on Tablet?

Not sure what you are using, but have you tried this? Blue Iris Java Standalone I have it running on my HTPC and it works fine in Windows 7. I don't think it uses much in the way of CPU if you don't use the instant replay function and you can set the jpeg pull rate to suit your network...

    What Am I Giving Up?

These are what I got, they make a 5GHZ model also. Although that's a good price for the Ubiquiti ones, I didn't see the need for 5GHZ as I'm in a rural area and the 2.4 is more forgiving of placement, obstacles. I'm getting virtually the same internet speed in the shop over these that I am on my...

    What Am I Giving Up?

I know this is an older thread and you may have already made your choice, but felt that others trying to make the same decision may read it. I have to agree with Fenderman and others here who would encourage you to go with Blue Iris. If you can install and configure POE cameras and a NVR you can...

Any experience with scheduling a system image backup in Windows 10?

I've used Macrium Reflect Free for some time now with great results on SSDs on a Windows 7 and Windows 10 machine. It's amazing what software is out there for free! I've been able to switch to the imaged SSD in bios and boot up without a hitch. I use One Drive for my clips and just delete...

The Old "Can I run Two Instances of BI" Question Put Differently

I don't need to be coddled, just treated with a certain amount of respect which you apparently don't have the ability to do with anyone on this board. All of your answers reek of condescension. The above is clear evidence of that. It must be tough having to come here every day to support your...

The Old "Can I run Two Instances of BI" Question Put Differently

Talk about trolling, you appear to thrive on running this board by doing so. Like I said, if it doesn't fit your world view, rather than leave each to it's own you appear compelled to run them down about it with your superior knowledge. (If someone enjoys doing something, how is it wasting their...

The Old "Can I run Two Instances of BI" Question Put Differently

Do a Google search on this topic and you'll find that this is a myth based upon the very early years of personal computers. Modern systems are no more stressed by off and on than remaining on. Benefits include reduction of wear on fans, power supplies and hard drives. As well as less dirt and...

The Old "Can I run Two Instances of BI" Question Put Differently

I think that the idea of rest for things like a RAID array can be debated. MTBF is based on hours of use. It seems as though you could lengthen the life of hard disks by cutting 10 hours per day out of their use, and that's not taking into account the heat. The garage is not air conditioned and...

The Old "Can I run Two Instances of BI" Question Put Differently

I know this has been answered a bunch of times, but I was curious if it could be accomplished, with two different computers on the same network, running only one instance when the other computer is down, if care is taken not to mix the databases and storage folders? The reason being, I have my...

    Probably a Dumb Question...

Here's the file. I don't know why Dahua can't post these on their site. I'm guessing it's specific to this camera? I wouldn't want to be responsible for anyone bricking their camera so use at your own risk. :single_eye:

    Probably a Dumb Question...

SafeGuard Design, the Amazon seller, fixed me up with a firmware update that changed it to NTSC. That took care of the artifact. Great little 3MP wide angle camera for the price. Thanks for the help Q. :victorious:

    Probably a Dumb Question...

I already noticed the anomaly of which you speak. It's a sort of rolling band of slight shadow that goes down the frame. It doesn't happen all of the time, just when there's a lower level of fluorescent light. I'm thinking I'm going to return it. As it is missing the ability to change it to NTSC...

    Probably a Dumb Question...

I know, there are no dumb questions, but here's a question. I recently purchased the following camera to include in my system: Dahua IPC-HFW1320S 3MP HD 2.8mm Wide Angle. It didn't say anywhere on the Amazon page but it is PAL. It appears fine in BI3 and I'm able to log in and set the resolution...

    Blue Iris and Cam Brands

While I'm no expert, I'll weigh in. While I have had good luck with the Dahua bullet cameras, I did have to send two of the dome style cameras (not variable focal) back as it was just too warm when operating for me to feel comfortable with. It was so warm that it was uncomfortable to leave your...

BI Companion on WP 8.1 Denim and WP 10 Insider

Previously I ran BI Companion on a Lumia 521 with WP 8.1 Cyan without problems. (I'm running BI 3.66) I recently switched to a Lumia 640, a more powerful phone, running WP 8.1 Denim and found that the video in BI Companion, whether live from the cameras or on Alerts and Clips is REALLY slow...

cams/BI captured a-hole stealing my kids' xmas presents

Sorry I'm just getting to this post. Been away from IPCam Talk for a bit. You might try connecting with your local Probation and/or Parole office (sometimes they are separate depending on state and county) and see if the local administrator will send out the link or some of the stills to the POs...

    Audio Alerts from smoke detectors?

You might think about installing an inexpensive IP or wireless camera near the detector that signals on sound readings. I have a Foscam FI8910W that I have in my shop as it's not connected to the wired network. It has sound sensitivity settings on it. With it right by the alarm you could set...

Blue Iris Tools - Weather Overlay, Watchdog & more!

I was able to get around the errors I was having when starting up version 1.1 using BI 3.66. I downloaded the zip file for errors and unzipped it to a directory on my desktop. I started BI Tools from that directory and it allowed me to choose which version of BI I was using which it wasn't doing...

Blue Iris Tools - Weather Overlay, Watchdog & more!

Has this been tested on 3.66? Just curious because I let it install the update and it immediately started throwing up errors. Saying something about "wrong type size"? Every time I would click on the OK on the error message it would throw another one up. I had to kill the process. I tried...

    Text Overlay Camera Name

In Camera Properties / Video / Text and Graphic Overlays (where you selected the date and time overly) there is a box at the top that will overlay whatever you type in there. You would have to type in the name of the camera, it won't do it automatically. (Unless someone else knows of another trick!)

    I made a better remote-live-view page [OLD]

That did it! Took me a bit to find that setting. I'm still learning BI, it's a pretty complex software. I now have the all camera view and the all camera cycle view available. Thanks for sticking with me and troubleshooting it. I appreciate all the work you've put into this! Just curious, when...

    I made a better remote-live-view page [OLD]

Disabling the hotkeys fixed the log in problem (and I see that you fixed in your latest update). The other problem still persists. In the sidebar I have the drop down set to all cameras and the camera button is set to not active. The top drop down only gives me one option "All Cameras" but it...

    I made a better remote-live-view page [OLD]

Two problems really. I looked through previous posts and did some searches and couldn't come up with anything. 1) When it tells me I need an administrator log in and I try to do that, it only allows me 5 characters in the name and password. My Blue Iris Log in name and password are longer than...

i5 VS i7 Processor For New BI Build?

Re: i5 VS i7 Processor For New BI Build Update Thought I'd update the direction I went in setting up my BI machine. Previously it was running on an AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core 4600+ processor. It was my old office machine and it could run BI but when I started adding 3MP cameras it pegged the...

i5 VS i7 Processor For New BI Build?

Thanks fenderman! I appreciate the input. I never seem to be able to get in on those sales, there or at New Egg. Whenever I pull it up they are sold out but have another one they want to sell me for the same price that is half the machine. Not to impugn Dell or Newegg, but I think there's a...
