Just a random thank you to everyone in the forum for helping out and contributing. This is a pretty cool place

    Where to buy

Thats exactly what I found. I'm going to get Honeywell Vista 20P 6160RF alarm system kit with the 6160rf so I can throw the wireless sensors all over with minimal wiring.

    External alarm I/O module

I have a LTS (hik) 8716-p16. That sounds pretty complicated nayr. At this point, i'll probably stick with my NVR and wait until a friend or someone wants a system and sell mine used to get a new NVR with I/Os. I really don't "need" the I/Os but its one more thing I can play with and integrate...

    Where to buy

Thank you for all of the advice! Zero, thanks again for your ongoing advice on the forum and helping me out! I have looked alot into the 15p/20p systems and think that is the direction I am going to go. On a side note, i'm surprised programming these systems isn't easier. I figured there would...

Multiple locations under one centralized system

Correct zero..I should have been more clear when I said local storage and then jumped into VPN. Store everything locally and then monitor and manage centrally with the VPN. Sent from my SM-G920P using Tapatalk

    Where to buy

I've been browsing through the threads and really don't know where to start with home security systems. I just bought my house and installed multiple cameras and am looking for a security system that I can install. Any recommendations?

Multiple locations under one centralized system

I don't have much experience with multiple locations but my first thought relates to bandwith. I would think that each location should have its own NVR and local storage and all of the NVRs connected to a VPN using a central management system to gather all of the feeds.

    External alarm I/O module

I had to think about it for a few minutes but I suppose it could work. I would just use the I/O from one camera and then use different linkage methods/trigger channels. I would like to have a few more inputs so I could trigger separate events. I should have just gotten an NVR with them built in...

    External alarm I/O module

Currently I only have one camera with I/O. I want to put some PIR sensors in to trigger events/recording. I also want an alarm output for the NVR that I can trigger to an alarm or some other output device.

    External alarm I/O module

Is there such a thing as a network connected, external alarm I/O module? I cheaped out when purchasing my NVR and got it without alarm I/Os. Is there a way to add on module or something to an existing NVR? Well, I'm sure there is but does anyone know or have used any? I found this... AXIS...

How to make camera have access to the internet through NVR POE and send e-mails from the camera?

Not the greatest with networking but your primary DNS is the same as your ip of the NVR. Try putting in the IP address of the NTP server rather than time.windows.com and see if it works. Using port 123?

    Ground for IR illuminator

bp2008, good point. trauts14, if you want to ground it at the IR, you could hammer in a grounding spike and ground the outlet directly to the spike. If you choose to go this way, make sure you don't ground the entire house to the spike, just ground the outlet. If you want to ground the actual...

    Ground for IR illuminator

12-2 is a bit heavy; you could have easily gotten away with 14-2. Assuming you wired the bare copper wire correctly to the outlet, you would have to wire the other end of the romex to a ground in the house. If you pulled off of an existing outlet, just wirenut the bare copper wires together; if...

Need a part - TTL triggered 12v relay and timer for siren

Get an arduino and a relay board. Its a very simple code to write and you will have complete control over how long the relays are closed for, what conditions, ext. You could do it all for under $30

Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. has the most to lose

I don't disagree with you. To play devil's advocate, maybe the domestic push would finally force Hikvision into the mainstream US market or some of the big US suppliers could see more competition and have prices drop. I don't think its likely with this market but it's an idea.

    Please sugguest camera.

stevef22, check out this thread by @zero-degrees; it has a lot of good information to help you out. Can you post a picture of the road/area you are talking about? Are you only interested in Hikvision? You may want to consider a varifocal camera that can get a tight shot to eliminate most of the...

VCA search "no picture file found"

I'm having the same issue. I'm running an LTS 8716p16 with the latest firmware. I have everything set up as you do benettton73 but no dice. I get the email alerts so I know the line crossing is configured correctly and have the VCA picture checked off. No idea here.

I had the same problem. Under networking>advanced>other, enable virtual host. I'm gonna check out those settings too.

    Another Email issue, not gmail

YLisiy, who did you talk to at LTS? I just got an email back from @milkisbad who said, "at the moment for the LTN8716-P16 there’s no firmware yet for it." and to keep an eye on the NVR4 firmware.

    Another Email issue, not gmail

Can you confirm that firmware is for the LTN8716-P16? If so, I'll be trying it when I get home!!

    Another Email issue, not gmail

Same here. I even tried sending the emails direct from the camera with no luck. Tried multiple email providers on multiple ports. I was between a network or firmware issue but it seems to be firmware.

    Another Email issue, not gmail

I also tried, on another users request, changing the "mail.optimum.net" to its IP address of 167.206.5.250 but nothing. It got me thinking, are there any other network settings that could potentially affect sending an email? HTTPS? Subnet Mask? DNS is currently 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 respectively...
