The faceplates are compatible even though the top cutout is different. You can interchange both cutout styles. I don’t believe the hardware varies between all the different name brands. -

I am not sure. Right now there is no going back on firmware upgrades so I am in no hurry to try the ONVIF support firmware as everything is working perfect for the units I have deployed. Give it a go and share the results! -

It is not uncommon for devices like these to not be compatible with wifi passwords with non-standard characters in them (even spaces). Try it again with your wifi set to a (temporary) password that has only numbers and letters to rule this out. I use the RCA or HiVision app and they both work... -
