NVR set or a few loose IP cams?

@Meir MaSe Miyara recommended I check with Nelly's. When I looked them up, I realized they are based about 3 miles away. I went over and spoke with Steven. He recommended a 7104NI-SN/P or 7104NI-SL/W with 2CD2020-I or 2CD2120F-IW 2142FWD-I. I will talk these options over with my father in law.

NVR set or a few loose IP cams?

Fair enough there Mr. "The Weeknd" ;). I have never really looked into NVR sets. What set would you recommend? We have Sam's Club here. Are there any specs that you use as a minimum in selecting an NVR? Maybe this?

NVR set or a few loose IP cams?

Hi all, My father in law wants to be able to keep an eye on his work truck and home at night. He doesn't need a lot of bells, whistles, complex alert scenarios etc etc. He also isn't tech savvy. So I think he either needs an NVR kit or a few IPcams that can record to SD cards and do a simple...

How hot does your DS-2CD3345-I run?

It probably was running IR at the time since the room was dark. Good point. Still seems warm though. I wish the whole housing was made of metal instead of just the 'eye ball' portion being metal...

    4.2.8 - January 7, 2016 - Hardware Acceleration

Yes I have a monitor attached, sort of. It is an AV receiver. The BI App reports 12% CPU. (more info than you asked for) When I have BI service running, BI app running, and splashtop running - BI App is reporting 44% and Windows is reporting 47%. Support data: Version: Release 4.2.8.5 x64...

    4.2.8 - January 7, 2016 - Hardware Acceleration

I had some confusion to start but I think HA is working for me. Bi as a service, i7 4770, 16gb, 2mp hik, 3mp hik, 4 mp him 20-30fps. 21% cpu when I remote in via splashtop, which takes about 9%. 32% when I launch the windows 10 app on top of the service.

How hot does your DS-2CD3345-I run?

I was in the process of moving the cam outside when I posted this. I just checked, it is 31f outside, my 2332 3mp is reading 48f and the 3345 is reading 59f. That seems okay. Not sure if I need to be concerned about summer or not though.

How hot does your DS-2CD3345-I run?

I just got this the other day. I configured it with SADP and it has been running inside my house (70f) for a few days. I noticed it was warm and I checked it with an IR temperature sensor. It was reading 102f. Is this normal? It is currently set at 2560 x 1440 at 25fps. Thanks! John

Recording at a higher resolution than your display is capable

I have my BI server connected to a 1080p display and also use the app on phone and tablet. Is there any decisive pro/con for setting my cameras to record at a resolution greater than 1920x1080? I can see where it might help if I wanted to export a video to play it elsewhere, but that...

    WiFi in Garage and BlueIris

I'm probably not the right person to recommend domes. Sounds like they don't need ir for in the garage. Do they need audio? Maybe just one could do audio? Simply gauging by traffic here, I would go with hikvision. What size is the garage and what field of vision do the cameras need? 8 sounds...

    Thermal Imaging cam?

I am listening to an owl hoot in my back yard and I am wondering where he is. I have also heard advertisements for using smart phone connected thermal imaging sensors to detect insulation problems in the home. Does anyone have any experience with these? IP or otherwise... Thanks! John

Please help confirm camera choice for front door

I am no expert so take this with a grain of salt. I have a 4mm 2332 on my front door. If Hik made a 3.6mm, I might have tried one. I don't think I want an angle as wide as a 2.8mm. I currently have it aimed a little higher than in the pic. I don't see the door mat any more and now I see the...

    4.2.8 - January 7, 2016 - Hardware Acceleration

Good idea. On my HP Elitedesk 800, I tried to download the latest driver from Intel. It gave an error saying I had an OEM driver. I had to uninstall the driver and check the box to delete the driver files. Then I installed the new driver from Intel. Then Windows Update found a bunch more...

Hi Fenderman, can you expand on your recommendations I quoted? Of the three items you mentioned, are all of those settings good for the particular situation in this thread, or good all around? Thanks! John

    4.2.8 - January 7, 2016 - Hardware Acceleration

I tried to find some sort of tool to verify that my system supports QS but I didn't find anything... Thanks for the info on the Support options. I see Extended is $30 annually and Priority is $60 annually. I also see that my particular license runs for 1 year since it was activated. I have...

    4.2.8 - January 7, 2016 - Hardware Acceleration

I updated to 4.2.8 and enabled Options>Cameras "Use Intel HD hardware acceleration for H.264 decoding. I also set each camera to Camera Properties > Video > Configure > Hardware Decoding: Yes. I restarted the BI service. My CPU usage seems to be the same. I am using an HP Elitedesk 800SFF with...

Fresh win 10 install and BI, but dll is missing?

I am getting this error too. I saw the new update, BI wouldn't update automatically, so I downloaded the update from the webpage and ran it. Oops. :/

Front door/Window to the outside suggestion please/thanks!

I got the cable run done and I mounted my 4mm 2332 where I punched the cable through for a start. It is mounted on the star. If I want to move it by the doorbell, I will paint some flat cat6 to match the house and run it over. From this side angle, it seems that this viewing width is sufficient.

    LV-PC902F2-W 2 way audio question

I tried adding at Audio Path on Network IP camera config (the page from your first image). I made it the same as the Video Path: /Streaming/Channels/{CAMNO}. That didn't work. I also tried checking the box for "Setup RTSP back-channel for talk support (PCM-U format)". That didn't seem to work...

    LV-PC902F2-W 2 way audio question

I think you are right about BI. When I added the camera back, I installed it as Hikvision 2cdxxx RSTP. I just switched it back to LaView, hoping for my audio back at all. No dice still. I was just testing the Microphone through the app as a curiousity and now I have no audio at all (camera to...
