    Cheap LED Alarm Light ?

Having looked at @looney2ns links further, I am after something much more subtle - it's for a domestic property, nice neighbours very nearby and with the amount of false alarms I get, something as glaring as a full on strobe light would cause me an awful lot of grief & complaints. Any tthoughts...

    Cheap LED Alarm Light ?

Thanks @looney2ns, I honestly didn't realise that a basic 'strobe light' could be used in this situation, and simply wired in to the NVR. I've a lot to learn!

    Cheap LED Alarm Light ?

Has anyone any suggestions on where to start looking for a hard-wired LED alarm light or experiences of using them? Something I can hard-wire to the NVR, which flashes when an alarm situation occurs? I know my NVR has an Alarm Out port, and I think a little visual deterrent would be a possitive...

Import cameras directly or as as sub channels under the NVR?

When I first set up my NVR and Cams, it was a case of plug everything in, check a few UI boxes and hope for the best, I now respect that this definitely isn't the correct approach! On the up-side, the general system does actually work.... However, as expected, some aspects don't. In particular...

Dahua SmartPSS slow footage download speed [solved]

Interesting thread. Could I please as where do you check which version of SMARTPSS is currently installed? And secondly, as @Lukey mentioned, I to downloaded from the Dahua Wiki site - is there an alternative location to download the program?

How to or can you even set IVS rules eg Tripwire in SMART PPS?

Does anyone know how to access the menu for setting up an IVS rule in SMART PSS or even whether it's possible? In the "manual" it states: 'In Live View interface, right click device in list, select IVS channel cfg' When I right click the cam, in live view, I dont have that option, just Main...

Minimising False alarms due to reflection

Very slightly off topic here, my apols, but do you know what 'Alarm Out' means vs buzzer (check box - bottom) and Alarm (check box - bottom), in the web interface? I'm expecting more false alarms tonight so want to get ready for un-checking!

Minimising False alarms due to reflection

Thanks again @sebastiantombs for your assistance. I'll try your suggestion...hopefully not further 3am false alarms! I need some sleep occassionally :) I tried and gave up using motion detection via SmartPSS as the cam was triggered by rain....and in the UK, we get a lot!

Minimising False alarms due to reflection

Update - I decided to test the zig-zag Tripwire again today, as it's sunny, to try replicate the is. Here is a classic example of a false alarm:

Minimising False alarms due to reflection

Thanks for your reply. Here are 3 screen shots - please note that for some reason the channel did not record all day yesterday, annoying, so I'll explain. Shot 1 is an actual false alarm using Intrusion method. Then I tried a 'zig-zag' trip wire -you cant see a false alarm here, but it happened...

Minimising False alarms due to reflection

Can anyone suggest a way of minimising false alarms when using a static cam set on Tripwire alarm? I've full access to all the settings via webservice and SMART PSS, but for love nor money I just don't seem to be able to stop false alarms due to reflection on the vehicle it is covering, which...

Outdoor Cam, facing property - finding a Wireless solution

There's been a sort of development come re-think on my part. I'm hoping that by asking this further question, others who use the forum, may benefit...even if the idea is a non-starter at least they'll know why! Wi-fi throughout my house isn't great so I've just purchased a 3 pack set of tp-link...

@dudemaar I may well just end up doing that! Did you use conduit for the cable or just lay it 'naked' in the trench?

Outdoor Cam, facing property - finding a Wireless solution

Another question if I may. If I purchased the Ubiquiti radios with the POE injector (as discussed above) would I be able to run one POE camera and plug a PC into it via Cat5 cable or Is it possible to connect my PC wirelessly to the remote Ubiquiti radio ? The intended set up is: I'm in a home...

Outdoor Cam, facing property - finding a Wireless solution

hi @TonyR & @pinko I've been researching your very helpful suggestions, and it looks to me like the Ubiquity solution would suit best and I would be able to locate the cam with a 'line of sight' to my house. There seem to be a lot of different models of Ubiquity which is confusing me somewhat...

Outdoor Cam, facing property - finding a Wireless solution

Thank you @pinko and @TonyR for your replies, much appreciated and very helpful. I've already spent over £2,000 ($2,500 ish) and it's my business that's paying for it, so I'm after 'what works best', rather than a compromise. It's also my home, so that's why I want the best set up possibl

Outdoor Cam, facing property - finding a Wireless solution

Hello all, I'm in the process of installing various Dahua cameras on my property and with the help of a very smart Dahua PTZ, I can cover 80% of the outside footprint apart from close up to the rear windows. So my thought was to fit a cam on the rear garden fence, aimed at the house rather than...

    NVR Location & Sound Proofing

@looney2ns Thanks very much, very helpful and appreciated. I've found a suitable location for the NVR which I can sound proof, so I won't need any mods to fans thankfully as that seemed way outside my skill set, but I also can't connect via cable for all sorts of reasons. I've no choice but...

    NVR Location & Sound Proofing

@giomania thank you - that's an interesting thread, I've just read it, so the fix isn't straightforward. :( It's difficult to guage whether the excessive noise is coming from the fan itself or air flow of course. Any thoughts?
