Hikvision NVR creates "ngtest" backdoor user on managed camera's

It's normal with a new unused Hikvision camera, in 'inactive' mode, to be 'activated' when connecting to an NVR PoE port that's in plug&play mode to be activated by the password that's set for this purpose in the NVR configuration. But that's usually applied against the admin user. If you've...

Hikvision NVR creates "ngtest" backdoor user on managed camera's

Unless it's totally changed in the new firmware, virtual host usually just provides a NATted access to the camera IP address without using any logon credentials. It's then up to the user to decide how to log in.

Hikvision NVR creates "ngtest" backdoor user on managed camera's

Fascinating! It sounds like a programmer has carelessly left in some test code in the firmware. I can see some security researchers exploring this to see if it can be exploited.

    Hikvision ds-7616nxi-i2/16p/s factory reset?

    Hikvision ds-7616nxi-i2/16p/s factory reset?

Often, but not always, a reset can be effected via the serial console. What's possible varies with the model, firmware, manufacture date etc. The Hikvision tftp updater can't be used because it has a filesize limit of 32MB. The Scott Lamb Python2 clone gets round this...

Bricked my NVR by updating from very old firmware straight to latest one.

That looks perfect - well done! I generally use the web interface as the most common reason I have for reviewing playback is to see events on an NVR that is configured for event-only recording. I have 2 NVRs connected to the same cameras, the other one is configured for continuous recording...

Amcrest Smart Home (ASH), No http web user Interface, Boooo!

Because they have designed it to be simply operated with their proprietary Android or IOS app. This is never done from scratch, lots of ready-made solutions that just need a little customisation to work for the specific device.

Bricked my NVR by updating from very old firmware straight to latest one.

That's an interesting question. Looking at the Prolific specs, it doesn't mention the signal levels, looking around elsewhere suggests the TX is 3.3v which matches the NVR requirements. There is a 5v VCC available on the device, but that's not needed and should not be connected.

Bricked my NVR by updating from very old firmware straight to latest one.

From what I recall (it's ages since I bought any of these) the TA version is required if the PC is running Windows 10. A driver issue. You'll notice that compatibility isn't mentioned on the non-TA version. Also - it's easy enough to insert the connector wires into the -TA version adaptor...

Bricked my NVR by updating from very old firmware straight to latest one.

That's the NVR probe looking for 'Arecontvision' devices that it puts out on normal bootup. It uses a similar handshake to the Hikvision tftp updater - so the tftp updater comments on it. It's not an error, but it does indicate that the tftp updater handshake has not taken place and the NVR has...

    Vanderbilt NVR without password.

You don't need Linux to pull the copy of the mtdblock1 - just the serial TTL to USB convertor, a serial terminal program (such as PuTTY) and the tftp server. So if you do manage the dump, and don't have Linux for the actual extract, you could attach the file here and I can check it out for you...

    Vanderbilt NVR without password.

That depends on whether you are feeling adventurous! It's quite an old, low-level NVR. A couple of ways to deal with the password - Apply the Hikvision firmware with Hikvision's tftp updater. If it takes - the device will be reset. or Extract a flash partition and decode the contents, like so...

PROBLEM ADD REMOTE IPCAMERA TO NVR

What ports do you have open? Port 8000 is the default command&control port, 554 for RTSP, 80 for web GUI etc Worth noting though that this will expose the NVR to the entire internet, with a chance it, and your network, will be hacked and compromised. Definitely not advised.

Annke Firmware to Hikvision Firmware: HOW TO

'tftp timeout' means the camera can't communicate with the tftp server. What tftp server are you using? What IP address is the PC using that the tftp server is running on? (should be 192.168.1.128) Is the PC firewall (presumably Windows built-in) allowing inbound access to the tftp server...
