    Beginning with AI

Hi all, I've been reading through numerous threads over the last few months, but the continuous updates and feature changes to both CPAI and BlueIris are starting to get a little overwhelming. I've been using BI successfully now for 6 months, and I'm starting to look into advanced features...

Should I go new SSD or whole new computer?

My standalone BI machine is a I7-3770. I have 28 IP cams, 2 USB cams, and 3 Blank screen with overlay "cams" running on it. I have numerous tablets taking various feeds from it throughout the house and garage. As I look over at it right now, it's at 40% CPU (I don't use any AI). Your machine...

I'm running 25 cams on an I7-3770 and as I look over at it right now, it's running at 35% cpu. Don't know what to tell you. You did check what's using CPU in Task Manager, right?

Which Computer Do I Buy To Run Blue Iris On? What Do You Use?

...surveillance drive. Previously ran an Optiplex 9020 MT with a i5 4590 which had nice physical space. Also ran an Optiplex 7020 SFF with an i7-3770 that had room for 2 HDD's and an SSD. But not natively it was the year they offered 4 layouts, USFF, SFF, Desktop ,and MT ( MiniTower) But Dell...

    HiLook IPC-T259H trouble setting a 24/7 1 week recording

Intro I am just trying to setup a simple 24/7 recording which lasts a week for my four IPC-T259H to a PC I have re-purposed as a NVR. I am quite new to this and it has been more effort than I expected setting this up. They all work and I can access the live steam and I can manually record...

Dedicated PC struggling to keep up with BI with 6 cameras

For the love of God don't waste time changing out a processor on a computer and that's worth less than the $35 you're investing in it... As noted you can buy an i5-8500 system for $150 or less... It can easily handle cold project for six cameras even if they are high resolution cameras... There...

Dedicated PC struggling to keep up with BI with 6 cameras

I also looked up what CPU I can use in the dell. looks like an i7-3770 , k , s , and t variants. found a 3770 on ebay for $35. not sure what kinnd of upgrade that would bring to BI though. I was hoping for better. I will lookup the old asus mobo and see but I think it's the same.

Dedicated PC struggling to keep up with BI with 6 cameras

...The capability of the i7-8700 with DDR4 ram is fantastically superior to 3rd gen cpu's, that and the PC itslef is more power efficient. my i7-3770 ran BI for awhile with like 12-13 cameras, Optiplex 7020. but i had some hardware deficiencies, I think my WD 6 TB blue drive was gimped somehow...

New Computer Build - Feedback before I start buying parts?

FWIW, I have an O-L-D I7-3770 (bought it used on eBay), which is well under the cpu power of the link that Fenderman posted. I have 25 cams with 24/7 recording plus alerts, 3 faux cams (for my weather stuff), and 2 USB cams that run whenever my 3D Printer is going. That old box has been running...

Dell Optiplex 7010 is dead -- How to troubleshoot power supply issue?

You cannot measure power consumption that way. The system doesnt use the max tdp. But the i5-9500 will be under less load than the i7-3770 because its 50 percent faster in single core processing alone - not to mention that it has more cores. That said, even a 10w difference translates to about...

Dell Optiplex 7010 is dead -- How to troubleshoot power supply issue?

Well that is an interesting thought. Just what would the difference in power usage be? This was a 7010 SFF with a i7-3770 @ 3.2GHz so that is 77W. The other was an i5-9500 @ 3GHz so that is 65W. So I don't see much difference here comparing 77W to 65W.

Low Rez when connecting to the BI service

I have BI installed as the only app running on an I7-3770. It looks great when viewing cameras from the attached monitor. The cameras look great when viewing with Amcrest Surveillance Pro. The cameras look great with a direct connect. When I connect to the BI web service they look much lower...

Is an i5-3470 too old for BI?

I'm STILL running an i7 3770 with 25 IP cams, 2 USB cams, and 3 blank cams with weather overlays. Glancing over, I see I'm using 16% CPU, though depending on how much is going on outside and light vs dark, it can go as high as around 34%...

@wepee I think the decision to get a Nvidia card depends on the # of triggered events CodeProjectAI has to analyze for a given time period. If your CPU gets so pegged during this time period such that it is unresponsive to other functions, then it probably makes sense to look at a Nvidia card...

Hello guys, does anyone know if the CPU is kind of old for handling AI detection? I have an old Intel i7-3770 CPU running at my office, connecting to 4 cameras only. Should I buy an Nvidia card solely for AI detection?

what is making my clip stutter after shortening it and uploading it to the desk top?

oh nothing probably just Porn bot scanning your video files. I used to see that on my old system. i7-3770, wd Blue 6TB, before substreams. What hardware/ system are your running BI on?

    PC On Sale?

I have an older I7-3770 with an SSD and a 1TB drive. It would probably be fine for 5 cameras. It is in an old Corsair case that is huge and probably draws a lot more power. The idea of an appliance size PC with current hardware, windows 11 and a warranty is attractive. Normally I do not care...

Does anyone run BI on a very low power box and let the camera's do all the work with ONVIF triggers?

...that was with the i3 handling simple motion detection. I can't remember what CPU utilisation was with that chip as I swapped it out for an i7-3770, but the i7 sat at about 10% utilisation. If set up like that with no recoding and all motion detection + AI done in-camera, required specs for...

I remember when H.265+ was Da Big Thang. Now, most do not recommend it's use. What should the standard be?

It will allow H265 recording, just not Hardware acceleration of H265, which we shouldn't be using now because of the substreams.

I remember when H.265+ was Da Big Thang. Now, most do not recommend it's use. What should the standard be?

My i7-6700 has 10 cams running H265 and another system I'm responsible for is a i5-8500 with 10 cams running H265 plus 1 H264 PTZ.

I remember when H.265+ was Da Big Thang. Now, most do not recommend it's use. What should the standard be?

I was told my i7-3770-Optiplex 7010 wasn't gonna cut it for h265 support. And that if I want to run with the Big Dogs, I would need to go up to at least an i7-6700 generation processor. Being new, I made sure everything was set to H264. I found some cams defaults were not H264, but H264H or...

Does BI use the Windows Quick Sync drivers?

My i7-3770 is a HP small form factor box (about half thickness of a standard PC). The hardware is solid, factory configuration but HP never sold it with Win 10 and Intel was not eager to propose a non-HP driver. I am quite pleased to know that the GPU makes little difference. After enabling...
