Lets say i have this swann analog camera from swann USA that uses 12v adapter, somebody in UK tries to buy it to replace his camera with it, would he need a plug adapter as well as converter?

it seems most of the countries go by different plug with higher voltage.

thats a good point, if its POE, I guess I wouldn't have to worry about this, but how about those regular analog cameras that use BNC cable and 12V power adapter? I know it has to fit it for their outlet, but is there anything else I should keep in mind? thank you

I am trying to flash my swann 85580 DVR through UART port. it didn't let me stop the boot with ctrl+u, but it seems like it looks for .sw file during boot from USB drive to flash the system. so, I grabbed the firmware file from swann and I put it in USB drive and start the DVR. for some reason...

it seems like most models look for files like uImage, xxx.bin or xxx.img file. is .pak file often used for firmware? i can extract something from it like unzipping, but there is only 1 file in it that has the same name, but just without extension...

you know when it uses digicap as a firmware file, u-boot console usually asks you if you want to update and you press U to proceed and follow the wizard to update the firmware instead of repairing what's broken. isn't there a set of commands that will do just that instead of trying to repair...

I think i misunderstood. Is rs232 the same thing as uart isn't it? It's just you access uart on board directly where as rs232 externally? But they both are essentially the same?

That must be pretty useful. Didn't know that. This internal rs232 on board looks like uart? If it's not used for an external access, is there any benefit over uart? I guess I gotta try and see, I own most of swann old and newer models from my work, I will for sure try on some of them to see...

Thanks for the clarification. I did check some DVRs that I have here and I found rs232 port only on some of high end DVRs only. And most of them don't come with one? This rs232 works similar to uart?
