Need recommendation for cheap DVR that will connect to BI

I did. But the ones I found on Amazon seem to be pricier than DVRs. So I'm thinking of using a DVR as a cheaper analog-to-IP converter.

Need recommendation for cheap DVR that will connect to BI

Yes, I tried adding camera and then typing in the IP address. In fact, I’ve tried almost everything that’s been suggested on this forum. There has been quite a few who had Zosi DVR and couldn’t connect them to BI. One person mentioned in a thread that Zosi officially told him that Zosi DVRs...

Need recommendation for cheap DVR that will connect to BI

Yes, they are actually doorbell cameras from AIPhone. I currently have a DVR from Zosi, but it fails to connect with BI.

Need recommendation for cheap DVR that will connect to BI

Many threads here suggest that not all DVRs can connect easily with BI. Which cheap model will connect with BI for sure? My only goal is using the DVR as analog-to-IP converter, in order to connect a couple of analog doorbell cameras to BI. I don't need any bells or whistles of high-end DVRs.

My AIPhone doorbell cams feed CAT5e cables. Can video signals be isolated from them?

I searched its user guide and found no mention of RTSP or ONVIF. Does that mean the video signal is probably proprietary?

My AIPhone doorbell cams feed CAT5e cables. Can video signals be isolated from them?

Sorry, I posted that thread but found incorrect description and had to delete it. Yes, the DVR has a LAN port. This is what I have: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WMGG2VJ/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_9NE6ZTJT1FS8KR7K4JCW The DVR is basically a linux box that you can connect through a proprietary app...

My AIPhone doorbell cams feed CAT5e cables. Can video signals be isolated from them?

I moved into a house that has an AIPhone AX doorbell and intercom system. The central unit that receives doorbell videos can only produce analog video signals through BNC ports, which are not amenable to integration with Blue Iris. As an alternative, I'm thinking of ways to hijack the video...

Possible to reduce false alerts from headlight reflection on snow?

I noticed that BI generated a number of false alerts for headlight reflection on snow from this past snowstorm. Is it possible to reduce those kinds of false alerts?

Any clever way to receive motion detection from IB or cams blocked from the internet?

I'm using my Synology NAS as the VPN server. I don't think the FiOS router can do VPN.

Any clever way to receive motion detection from IB or cams blocked from the internet?

Solving one problem leads to another. Doesn't it always... It turns out that my Verizon FiOS router has a rudimentary firewall functionality that can block the entire traffic but cannot selectively block the incoming traffic. Short of replacing the router - it's an idea that was seriously...

Any clever way to receive motion detection from IB or cams blocked from the internet?

Just to make sure I understand you correctly, are you suggesting that I block only the incoming traffic, unblock the outgoing traffic from the BI server, and make use of BI's native notification function? (I'm already using VPN to access BI from outside of my network.)

Any clever way to receive motion detection from IB or cams blocked from the internet?

I've blocked all my cameras and the PC running BI from accessing the internet for security reasons. Under these circumstances, is there a clever way to receive motion detection notice from BI? I have a SmartThings hub at home, which can receive zigbee and z-wave, if that can be utilized in any way.

Is internet required for access by iOS app in the same network?

I've blocked the internet access from the PC running BI. When I am away from home, I still can access BI through VPN. By the same logic, can I use the iOS app connected to my home network via VPN to access BI? Or does BI need internet connection to work as a server?

Each trigger recorded in separate clips with "combine" on

Well I tried the help file but couldn't find useful info. Can you at least give me a general direction?

Remove the red border around recording views?

I'm bumping up this old thread. The red border doesn't go away even when it's not recording. It only goes away when I execute database - repair/regenerate. Almost all of my cameras exhibit this problem.

Each trigger recorded in separate clips with "combine" on

I have the "Combine or Cut Video" option on on one camera with 7 days and 4 GB headroom. Still, it recorded separate clips for each triggering event. What's going on?

    The profile keeps changing

Ok, I didn't realize there was a separate help file inside Blue Iris. I gave up when the Blue Iris wiki didn't have any entry on that. Thanks.

    The profile keeps changing

I see. It looks like you have to be running the schedule in order to make a profile stick. Is there anyway to just stick to one profile, without any scheduling, until the user manually changes to another? That works well with my security system, and I don't see any reason why it shouldn't with...

    The profile keeps changing

I've so far set up two profiles: stay-arm and away-arm, which I plan to coincide with my security system eventually. But the profile keeps changing on its own. It keeps reverting from "2 Stay arm" to "1 Away arm". Any idea why?

Where can you check the resolution of recording?

    It's Vivotek IB8369.

Yes, I guess it's the byproduct of using consumer-grade cameras. :(

Where can you check the resolution of recording?

My status chart is like this The middle one is the camera in question. I guess It's pulling in at 2MP. However, when I click the right button on the single-camera screen, it doesn't give me an option to see which stream. (You said the left button, but the left button does nothing. I'm...

Where can you check the resolution of recording?

I've set the main stream to receive full HD and substream a smaller resolution. But the recording looks too grainy for full HD. Where can I see the resolution of a recording?

    Recordings look jerky

I'm still experimenting with Blue Iris. The recordings look jerky. I think it's because the FPS in the mainstream is in the 3-5 FPS range. I made sure to set the FPS at 15, as the optimization guide suggested, but it turns out that my Vivotek camera's FPS only sets the maximum FPS, not a fixed...

Substream shows only the middle portion of main strea

For some of my cameras - not all - , the substream displays only the middle portion of the main stream. I guess the camera crops the main stream rather than shoots with a lower resolution. This is inconvenient, because now the motion detection will only be triggered by only the dead center of...

What's the setting that enables the camera to see at night?

One of my camera is transmitting a near pitch-black scene at night, while another camera of the same make transmits an IR-like image. (I'm not sure it's IR, but it looks like it, all black and white.) What do you have to turn on to enable the other camera to see at night?

CPU running at 100% almost constantly

I'd like to report that using the substreams and writing directly to the disk has made a huge difference! Those two measures alone brought down the cpu usage to less than 20%. Thank you all.

CPU running at 100% almost constantly

Mea culpa. I hit the ESC button 4-5 times in a row in desperation, and it worked. The old driver is still wreaking havoc in other ways, I think. The remote desktop client that I use to log on to the BI-PC, shuts down once in a while.

CPU running at 100% almost constantly

How important is using the old driver in reducing the CPU usage? I'm going to update the video driver, because it's causing all sorts troubles, and do all the other suggested measures.
