OK to skip intermediate releases when updrading NVR?

So, I am going VERY slowly. Starting with 3.4.98 I did the following step-wise downgrade/upgrade: 1. Downgraded to 3.4.80 - OK 2. Downgraded to 3.4.6 - OK 3. Downgraded to 3.4.0 - OK. Did not have the courage to further downgrade to the 3.3.x versions. Any bricking risks going to 3.3.x? 4...

OK to skip intermediate releases when updrading NVR?

Alastair: Any chance I may brick the NVR by reverting all the way back to 3.3.4 (4 years ago)?

OK to skip intermediate releases when updrading NVR?

Thanks gregfooyong and alastair. My NVR is an E-series and was delivered with FW 3.3.6 Question: is it safe to revert back to 3.3.4 from today's version 3.4.98 ? I have counted 16 intermediate releases since 3.3.6 . . .

OK to skip intermediate releases when updrading NVR?

Over time, I did upgrade the FW on my NVR, but usually to the latest version, sometime skipping intermediate versions, especially if a long time elapsed since the last upgrade. Is version-skipping OK or should I religiously go through every released version since the last upgrade? I sort of...

    Ethernet packets

Mode B makes sense as it shows Tx and Rx on the same wire pairs. To go one step further, is there documentation showing packet content? I am interested how command, Main stream, and Sub stream are interleaved (and marked).

    Ethernet packets

Fenderman, I wired my system with T568B. Would you know which mode (see below) is used by the Hik cameras/NVR?

    Ethernet packets

Fenderman, are you saying data AND commands transit on the same wire? Is there some document/link describing what passes where? -S

    Ethernet packets

Cabling between IP cameras and NVR is Ethernet 8 wires. Commands go from NVR to Camera and data goes from Cameras to NVR, supposedly on different wires. Is there a link showing the content of the command and data packets that are traveling on the cable? For example, are Main stream and Sub...

    Is DS-7608NI-E2 / 8P compatible with H264+ ??

Can't locate the url, yet a ping of that address yields positive returns. See below both curl and ping commands.

I tried ODM again, but I still get the same error message I showed on message #13.

    Is DS-7608NI-E2 / 8P compatible with H264+ ??

I rebooted remotely (Configuration>System>Maintenance) and now I get the screen below, which is now the same screen you show in message #24.

    Is DS-7608NI-E2 / 8P compatible with H264+ ??

I created the xml file using Notepad++ and after I changed both authentications (RTSP and WEB) to digest/basic from basic, I get what's shown below. Do I need to reboot the NVR after changing the authentications? If so, it will be when I get home in a few hours.

    Is DS-7608NI-E2 / 8P compatible with H264+ ??

Windows PC (windows 10). Interesting that Restlet was installed with 0 requests allowed. It also appears the quotas will be reset to hopefully other than zero later today at 17:00 (though not sure what time zone)

Remote viewing H264+ Main Streams in IE11

Thanks bp2008. I installed the 32-bit version of Pale Moon and it works as well as IE11. However just like IE11, I cannot see any Main Stream when I go full screen for each camera. Perhaps the problem is elsewhere? -S

    Is DS-7608NI-E2 / 8P compatible with H264+ ??

I do get something, but only if I add the HTTP port (below). No ONVIF though

    Is DS-7608NI-E2 / 8P compatible with H264+ ??

No response, whether or not I add the HTTP port I use in IE11 to get to the NVR. The abort count keeps going up and I stopped it when it reached 200 seconds.

Remote viewing H264+ Main Streams in IE11

I have not seen this issue when searching the forum, so here it goes: I currently have four cameras using H264+ encoding and three cameras using H264 encoding. When I remote view the cameras in IE11, with WebVideoActiveX.ocx version 3.0.6.10 "manually" loaded, full screen display shows the...

    Is DS-7608NI-E2 / 8P compatible with H264+ ??

I do not have the Integration Protocol screen on my NVR (see below). However, many of my cameras do have a screen similar to yours, with ONVIF and Hikvision-CGI enable boxes (not ISAPI).

    Is DS-7608NI-E2 / 8P compatible with H264+ ??

I tried and got interesting results. First, my NVR does not have the "Enable RTSP" option. Then, I tried remotely accessing the streams from the four H264+ cameras and the other three H264 cameras with VLC and here is what I got: 1. Camera 1, rtsp://192.168.1.xx:554/Streaming/tracks/101 => Error...

    Is DS-7608NI-E2 / 8P compatible with H264+ ??

Thanks again, StewartM. My cameras are 2CD2335FWD-I. I adjusted their setups as you suggest above, but still can't see H264+ main streams remotely. To understand what is involved with the end-to-end data path, I generated the simple graphics below (please correct any errors). Out of the NVR, I...

    Is DS-7608NI-E2 / 8P compatible with H264+ ??

StewartM: I do NOT port-forward on my router as this forum strongly recommended against it. I did some tests with interesting results. Based on your suggestion, I changed the RTSP port on the NVR from 10554 (I don't remember why I had it at that value) to 554. ==> Partial success as one of the...

    Is DS-7608NI-E2 / 8P compatible with H264+ ??

So I checked the DS-7608NI-E2/8P datasheet and as StewartM suspected, it is compatible with H264+ encoding. Why, then, can't I remotely view the main stream of the 4 cameras that have H264+ enabled? -S

    Is DS-7608NI-E2 / 8P compatible with H264+ ??

Setup: NVR is DS-7608NI-E2 / 8P, FW 3.4.98 build 171121 with 7 cameras. Four of the cameras are in H264+ mode. While connecting to the NVR remotely (via OpenVPN), I can see playback videos of all the cameras, but I cannot view the main-stream, real-time videos of the four H264+ cameras (I can...

Camera lens change and no pictures ever stored

Pozzello: the link you gave is for a M12 lens rated at 1 MP which I believe is not sufficient for a 3 MP camera. It also states "IR Board" ; does that mean it is made to mount on an IRC board and therefore it does NOT have IR filtering built-in? I'm thinking of these lenses, 6 mm focal length...

Camera lens change and no pictures ever stored

Thanks Pozzello. Are you saying the 2332 should take a replacement lens **without** IR filtering? I also understand from Alastair that the separate IR cut includes a mechanism that moves it in/out of the way dependent of night/day environment Back to my other question about not seeing ANY...

Camera lens change and no pictures ever stored

Thanks TheDank. I was aware of the IR cut filter in the 2CD2335FWD-I. My question was: is there such a filter on the 2CD2332-I ? The 2332 data sheet does not even mention it: https://us.hikvision.com/sites/default/files/vs_ds-2cd2332-i_121117na_0.pdf As far as lens replacements, there are...

Camera lens change and no pictures ever stored

Thanks Alastair. The cameras are DS-2CD2332-I and I have no idea whether or not they have 1/ a built-in IR filter and 2/ if they do, if the filter is separate from the lens, presumably located between the lens and the detector. The camera data sheet certainly does not mention any IR filter. If...
