so, I added a new camera at the same ip address as the missing camera, it showed on the BI desktop and suddenly the missing window was there too..! I checked drag lock and deleted the new camera..

Ok, we rebooted (powered of/on) and the missing camera live view is still not shown

thanks.. not hidden or disabled.. tried all that.. when showing cameras on a cycle, the missing camera is selected, and the clips show for that camera (so I assume that means it is not seen as disabled).. trying to get back on the system to see camera groups.. but we didn't have any sub...

thanks.. I can repeat your scenario on my system. On the system in question, the missing camera live view window is not visible on the desktop, nor a stacked icon on the task bar. I do not know how it got into this state.. BI is running as a service on both systems..

any debug ideas anyone?

Unless you specifically coded 'Tim' as the user to run the BI service under, it is different, called 'local System'. and the authority required is different.

is BI running as a service? if so, the userid of the 'service' is different than the userid when you are at the desktop. I had to change the windows security settings on my (linux) shared drive to make it accessible to BI.

somehow cut on trigger was set for each camera. it might be a default..

in my clip list I see one clip per camera with a red box around it. this typically means recording.. but I have some still red that are not recording now..

ok, looking a the log file I finally figured out the problem. BI running as a service didn't have access to the drive on aux 7. (the log said Movefiles:5... filename) I assumed 5 meant return code. later I saw Movefiles:2 trying to move the files FROM the drive (where it got access denied)...

yes, the help says 5 minutes.. I agree, don't want to screw it up.. let BI do the work.. .. I meant BI copied (not moved) from stored to aux7.. not me.. and using the logical folders with any real mapping under them removes the need for the symlinks as well.

a copy was done from stored to aux7.. the files were not removed from stored. these two are on different drives.

Ok, no camera right now for new clips.. just did regen on the database, all clips in stored. (never did any manual script, as it would corrupt the DB) how often does it check the clip conditions (size or age)

ok, not currently recording, cameras moved to another house.. can u enlighten me on the "you didnt set it up properly" new (to stored every hour, works, has no files, currently not recording) stored (to aux7 every day) has files aux7 (to aux6 very 7 days) has files aux6 (do nothing..)

can anyone conform that this should work? I am using demo version, new -> stored works..(1 hour) stored to aux 7 does not (1 day) bunch of stuff in stored folder, older than a day aux 7 to aux 6 has not. (7 days, not enough time yet) aux 6 delete over 90 days (not enough time yet)

ok, I may have been vague in my wording. We have setup detection zones. we want to make sure they are correct.. the rectangles help us verify that. I don't know of another way to insure we have the detection zones set correctly...

thanks.. its a little I3 system for recording these 3 cameras.. trying to have as little impact on the system for the normal user. so direct to disk saves lots of CPU. rectangle.. well, we don't know as lot about what actually we want... but we want to start recording NOW for other reasons...
