Just remembered the name of the feature on the Nest Hello, it's called Quick Responses. Just three quick responses you can choose. Especially handy if you are in a low signal area and two-way communication is patchy, just tap the button and the doorbell plays it.

yes I completely get all that. That’s why I wanted this doorbell. I already have a Hikvision CCTV system that’s ice integrated the doorbell with. Hence why I said I’m glad the alerts are not a must have feature for me. Just annoying that this basic feature isn’t included.

The issue is getting one in the UK. All it needs is IFTTT to send the notification to HA then HA can send it to Alexa. Shouldn't need another device...

Far harder than it needs to be. I think I'll stick with the mechanical door chime until something better comes along. All I need is a trigger of some sort for Home Assistant. I already have the Alexa notification working.

Well this is LAN. The traffic isn’t reaching the router.

The traffic comes from the camera. There is no traffic from the Internet that goes to the camera without coming from the camera first. The router will know where the traffic came from due to the arp table it holds. It maybe a Linux kernel but Hikvision customise it and run their software.

If that’s the case then Hikvision don’t know how IP subsets work. The traffic originates from the PoE network so the router doesn’t need to have a route for it. The traffic the router receives is from the NVR and therefore a device on its known range. It knows to send that to the Internet. It’s...
