    Hikvision Camera resetting itself

Just upgraded to the most recent firmware. Will see what happens. I did also disable upnp on the camera just to be safe.

    Hikvision Camera resetting itself

Fantastic, thanks! I'll have to search around, but any good guides to upgrading firmware (with a place to download it)? Mine are genuine English versions.

    Hikvision Camera resetting itself

Hi all- I have one (of 11) Hikvision cameras that has reset itself twice in the past few weeks. The first time happened at the same time the switch supplying power (PoE) died and had to be replaced so I didn't think much of it. It's happened at least one other time since to the same camera...

    BlueIris Server Hardware

Anybody have any thoughts? I just ordered 4x Hikvision DS-2CD2142FWD-I that will be added to the setup. So we're now looking at 11 total cameras.

Scratch the ubiquiti I'll probably do Hikvision indoor domes. Cheaper and appear to be better.

Fenderman - I ended up getting an older i5-3470 from my brother. What are your thoughts on how it will handle my setup? Also note that I'll be adding 3 additional indoor cameras so it will be 10 total. For the indoor cameras, I'm thinking ubiquiti.

    BlueIris Server Hardware

Fenderman - it is all about whether it's up for the task. That is EXACTLY what I am asking. Somebody reading this thread will clearly see both that and the fact that you will burn a lot more energy going this route. While not a great analogy, it's like telling somebody who owns a Ferrari and...

    BlueIris Server Hardware

Again, thank you all. While I appreciate the continued discussion regarding efficiency and electricity cost, I was really only trying to determine if my current machine would run the software well. At this point, I am willing to give it a try. My backup is the processsor above that I can get...

    BlueIris Server Hardware

Electricity where I live is anywhere from 7.5-9.5 cents. I'm not negating the cost savings from a more efficient system I'm really only concerned with whether or not the older server will perform ok. At this point I think I'm going to try it out since there's no upfront cost. I will report back...

    BlueIris Server Hardware

Haha, no, but I'm willing to work with it. I think your calculations are a bit off too. 200watts running 24/7 should only cost about $150-200/year total.

    BlueIris Server Hardware

I have no problem with the electricity, heat, or noise but am worried about performance. If the older server won't perform it's a non starter.

    BlueIris Server Hardware

Thanks LTek. I was thinking I should'nt have a problem with my current server (dual Xeon x5675s and 72gb ram). I'm going to go ahead and give it a try. Now, windows 7, 10, or a server version for BlueIris?

    BlueIris Server Hardware

Ya, I was having a harder time on Ebay than I thought I would. And delloutlet doesn't have any i5 machines. My rack is on the smaller side (I think 22U) so space is at a premium!

    BlueIris Server Hardware

Again, thank you! Anywhere you can recommend finding one (used even) on the cheap? I shouldn't need room for anything other than an SSD because I'll be connecting it to a NAS for storage purposes.

Thank you again, much appreciated. So something like this would work well? HP EliteDesk 800 G2 Mini PC Intel i5-6500T 2.50GHz 4GB RAM 500GB HDD WIFI W7P64 | eBay.

Point taken. Any serious benefit to going i-7 vs. i-5?

    BlueIris Server Hardware

Thank you for the feedback. Anything rack mountable you can suggest? Either, the recommended system won't have any issues with 8 cameras? Thanks!

    BlueIris Server Hardware

Hello all- I'm new and looking to build a server for BlueIris. I have a few spare older HP servers (xeon X5675) that I hoped to use but I've been reading their not great choices due to their age and lack of integrated graphics. I am looking for a 1U server and hoping to keep the price as...
