    Dahua Pro Series N52B2P thoughts?

Hi, Needing exactly this configuration NVR and it is for existing Dahua cameras. My question is if this is a robust NVR and simple enough for a nutcase like me to setup and use? :) Don't mind spending the money for something that will be a good investment. Looking at getting it from B&H as...

Dense persons guide to VPN on a Netgear Router

Almost forgot that. My mistake the first time around. Go to a local Starbucks or some other place with wifi. Remember with a VPN you are secure in the connection.

Dense persons guide to VPN on a Netgear Router

The zip file you download from the router in step 2 and place them in the folder noted in step 7. Now I'm not real good at this so if you have done that and its not working then maybe something in your setup needs the files somewhere else????? Also make sure that if you make any changes to the...

I don't see any problem with how you will connect it. I think it only matters that you have an IP address for it and then it can be found on your network. As far as the camera. I love mine and they seem to work great. Great picture day or night but at night between the garages it may not give...

Dense persons guide to VPN on a Netgear Router

First off this only covers my use with a Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 Model R7000. This was purchased in late 2017. Installed after the cable modoem and then connected to a switch with POE (Power Over Ethernet) for the cameras. All cameras are connected directly to this switch. I do not use a DVR...

webplugin could not be saved, because the source file could not be read.

Ah, I have treaded these waters for some time and almost drowned. I ended up having to go to Pale Moon browser (32 bit version, called the X86 download) Then after opening up the cameras own software in the browser you need to click on the download link. My Anti-virus would not let me download...

Dense persons guide to the Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-Z

The wonderful world of computers! I can have both browsers closed and open NACL and it works so maybe that is the program and once chrome deletes support it will use Pale Moon. Maybe nobody will ever know! :) Anyway I'll move on the the rest of the info. As of today chrome works with...

Dense persons guide to the Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-Z

Tried this a few times. Even uninstalled the plug-in rebooted and downloaded + installed again. Go to Pale Moon and still not showing picture, asking for plug-in. "I" and I mean "Me" is missing something in this equation. I do not see any toolbar of any kind in Pale Moon to find a place to...

Dense persons guide to the Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-Z

So here again I'm only getting bits and pieces. OK I disabled AVG and downloaded the file, ran the program and it installed, I guess, as it did not ask me anything. How do I open the plug-in? Do I just open it from the windows start menu? It's the same plug-in I used with chrome how does it know...

Dense persons guide to the Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-Z

bp2008, So this is one of the problems with us dense people. You mention using the Palemoon browser because it "supports old NPAPI plugins and can be used to access most cameras". So I download it, start it up and try to access the camera but no live view and it asks me to click for plug-in...

Dense persons guide to the Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-Z

I have had a tough time starting out with the whole IP camera thing. So much of the information on this forum is just a single degree past the noob like me that it was difficult to grasp much of the stuff talked about or understanding how it worked and because of that I decided to make the...

    Snapshot file format

Did learn not to format the card in the camera, when I did it disappeared and even rebooting both via camera software and unplugging POE did not bring it back. Had to connect it to my desktop and reformat then reinstall and all is good. Now I have to reinstall the camera on the mount so if it...

    Snapshot file format

Partial success!!! So stupid on my part, I admit it and please tell people this. I will still do a Dummy's Guide to setup when all done. TIME! So simple, never thought of it. Checked the SD card on my computer and the files were all marked as year 2000. Went to the camera and changed it now...

    Snapshot file format

alastairstevenson, I'm aware of these things and the time zones really aware of, just am so frustrated that some simple things are not anywhere in the manual. I have two cameras with SD cards and the cards are filling up from motion detection but the playback shows nothing there. Formatted...

    Snapshot file format

ewc1111, Thanks, I'll try this later after work. I use Chrome with the NACL plug-in. Now I understand why the ones sent to the NAS are .bmp format. I'm sure it's some setting I have wrong but it's very confusing so I will follow your steps and let you know. Thanks so much for taking the time to...

    Snapshot file format

Hi, I got the IPC-HDW5231R-Z from Andy and I'm confused on seeing the snapshots via the camera software. I have it setup for motion detection and I can see that it must be working as the SD card is filling up but in playback it shows nothing. I choose the SD card and the .jpg format but...

    Question on SmartPSS

Thanks weigle2! I did that yesterday and can take snapshots manually from the cameras own software which are sent to the SD card. I can see the used space on the card change when I take the snapshots but the software will not show the pictures. I did notice that when sending them to the network...

    Question on SmartPSS

Pardon my ignorance on all this but I have a basic question on how this works. Even after reading I'm confused........as my wife and kids like to point out :-) I have 5 IPC-HDW5231R-Z all working fine with different ip addresses. They are hooked into a poe switch and all of this hooked into my...

    first camera ordered IPC-HDW5231R-Z

I'm still playing around with mine but right out of the box they worked great. Be careful some are set to 192.168.1.110 and some 192.168.1.108. Drove me nuts for a little while. I'm not very tech savvy on this stuff. Pete
