Converting ipCam 4K .dav files to another format

My Lorex Ipcam system records 4K. I can download the native .dav files and play them with a some issue on MPC-HC. Only other player on my PC that can play it is Amcrest Smart Play but the export to .avi feature doesn't work properly and only outputs .avi files with 0kb size. Handbrake won't...

Question about locally remote NVR functionality

Yeah, I entered the coreect IP address as is assigned to the NVR by my router. There are many options for connectivity via idmss and I tried them all as far as I could figure out. I'll give TinyCam a try. Thx

Question about locally remote NVR functionality

Now do I need port forwarding enabled while connected via local wifi? I don't think you do. Anyways, I could not get the phone app to connect to the DVR via local wifi. I can connect my local PC via wifi through Chrome browser extension called Easy Viewer by the NVR's local ip address. I...

Question about locally remote NVR functionality

I know its been a while since I last replied but I was pretty busy and sidetracked but now I'm attempting to setup my VPN for iPhone viewing. I appear to have successfully established a VPN connection between my phone and router. My problem I think seems to be connecting the iDMSS lite app to...

Question about locally remote NVR functionality

So this VPN should cover one of those cheap turret IPCAMs I have inside my home? I 'd like to use it to monitor the interior.

Question about locally remote NVR functionality

That's more along the lines of what I was looking for. I don't think I'll have time tomorrow to set all that up so I'll likely leave the NVR off the network while I'm on my trip. I now realize how far I've fallen behind in my tech-know-how. With age I've just lost the interest to keep up with...

Question about locally remote NVR functionality

I have a Nighthawk router that has built in VPN service menu. There are quite a few setup options though and that's what I need to figure out as well as the setup on my iPhone and the impact on all my other devices.

Question about locally remote NVR functionality

Ok so I gave that link a quick read through. It doesn't give complete instructions on setting up the VPN for my NVR and my phone, just a basic overview. I'd need more time to research in more depth what's involved in setting this up with my devices. Unfortunately I don't have time since I'll...

Question about locally remote NVR functionality

Is there an app for accessing my NVR from a cellphone? I'll be on vacation soon and would like access for that time period. Update: I found the Lorex Secure app. I'll run the setup later.

Question about locally remote NVR functionality

The system is doing well. It went through Hurricane Irma without fail. Exposed to Cat 1 winds and rain so the weather proofing is definitely good. The IQ during the day is superb at 4K. The IQ at night is fair. Lots of grain and loss of detail. The image sensor is not well suited for low...

Question about locally remote NVR functionality

Where's the video? My NVR has a DC plug in the rear. The fan noise is minimal IMO. I think any worthwhile NVR will have a fan but the fan quality would directly impact the noise level. My NVR is in HT system self in the living room. Only audible when everything else is off. I really like...

Question about locally remote NVR functionality

I switched to corridor mode. Had to lower the resolution a bit for it to work. I cant raise the camera any further due to soffit coming into frame and more glare. The soffit inclines upward in front of this camera so nothing more I can do besides maybe a pedestal. The IR leaves a hot spot low...

Question about locally remote NVR functionality

IF the box doesnt do the job I'll have to move it closer to the edge like you said or get a pedestal for the camera if there is such a thing. I made the adjustments but maybe not enough. The glare from the lamps I feel may be part of the problem. I need to see that shed at the far end...

Question about locally remote NVR functionality

Here's the last view. Darkest part of yard. After raising the camera a bit the IR beam illuminates where I wanted. Lights up both my yard and the neighbor. The neighbors driveway seems out of illumination range or exposure. This would also be a possible candidate for a starlight but looks...

Question about locally remote NVR functionality

In full rez like on my 4K TV it looks really good. Once I install the junction box on that camera I'll be able to lift the view a little bit more without the roof being a problem. I need it angled up a bit more to get my car parked on the front shoulder into view.

Question about locally remote NVR functionality

Here's a few cellphone photos (sorry haven't had a chance to figure out image transfers from NVR yet) of my display at night. I had issues email pics from phone so only got 4 out of 6 with lousy quality The IR is so-so. Camera seems to beam the IR at an angle below center, low. Not very wide...

Question about locally remote NVR functionality

I'll post some night time screenshots tonight. That's a good idea. I got lots to figure out. I did play around with the smart scan, cool stuff. I haven't plugged the NVR to my switch yet. Any pointers on accessing the NVR via local PC?

Question about locally remote NVR functionality

Got the system all hooked up and running finally. Looks great and the focal length is working out ok. Could use a starlight or two but that's for later. Now i'm learning the UI and all the functions. I'd like to thank matt2000 for the suggestion he posted on slickdeals regarding the Dahua...

Question about locally remote NVR functionality

That's good news on the mode settings. Please keep me/us up-to-date on any tweaks you figure out to improve the quality. I can't wait to have it all going so I can see how it really does.

Question about locally remote NVR functionality

My initial tests are somewhat inconclusive. Some placements take good advantage of ambient light. Other locations have the camera running color-mode at night resulting in the sensor ISO being to high with lots of image noise. I need to see if the camera can be forced to IR mode at night in...

Question about locally remote NVR functionality

I'll look into the NAS solution, I like that idea and wasn't sure if it was doable. I'd also read about the SD card cams here somewhere. It's a cool idea but it's gotta cost extra and reduce the number of camera choices. Thx

Question about locally remote NVR functionality

I did do a lot of fast research the past few days. Not as much as I would have liked to but I'll be on stay-cation next week and that is the opportunity for me to install the system. I need to run all the wires too and that is no picnic. I moved quick on getting a system so I got that...

Question about locally remote NVR functionality

I think installing a DVR lock box at my home theater center would be the easiest solution. The intruders would have to go through a lot of effort to pry it off. My HT system shelf is very heavy duty and bolted to the wall studs.
