Can I flash firmware from Europe (other region) for my camera?

For the R6: it appears 5.5.53 is already the latest. For the G1: from 5.5.5 to 5.5.53. I'm more curious to know if there's any reason why I can't go from one to the other.

Can I flash firmware from Europe (other region) for my camera?

I've got a G6 and R1 camera in Australia and was wondering if I can flash Europe firmware on it, whether this will brick the camera. I notice that Hikvision Europe support portal has newer versions of firmware than what is available in my local region.

NVR ds-7608ni-i2/8p firmware upgrade gone wrong.

Aussies - the Hikvision website has been updated and there appears to be a new firmware page, starting to filter through v4.1.11 for the DS-96* models. Maybe we'll get something soon for the 76xx... NVR - Hikvision Australia Baseline Firmware_I series super NVR 128-ch &256-ch_V4.1.11_171204

Yes, I attempted the upgrade using the web/browser interface. Is v4 significant enough to upgrade from v3?

    New firmware for Hik NVR's 76 77 96 NI-I

Actually, before I attempt that, I did request a password reset using SADP. If I power cycle the NVR, will the password reset request be invalidated?

Help required please, @alastairstevenson - I went from 3.4.93 to 4.1.50. Genuine Australian unit from a distributor. Hi, how did you reset and reflash firmware if you can't get in? I'm in a similar situation with mine - firmware upgraded but database corrupt (and can't log in).
