    CGadSocket Errors Becoming Problematic

Thanks for taking a look Yankee. Hopefully I’ve gotten the screen shots you’ve requested. You’ll notice that in the camera status page HA is turned off. I was told by Ken to disable and that would be the fix. IMHO, thats not a fix. I’ve attached the pictures you’ve requested. Please let me know...

    CGadSocket Errors Becoming Problematic

I’ve only been running Blue Iris since December and the experience has been mostly positive except for a few times now where I’ve found the application has entered into a faulted state. The computer and software is responsive however, camera feeds are lost, CPU use is 100% and RAM usage is near...

Issue Resetting a Dahua Camera's Network Setting

Hello all, I am in need of a bit of assistance with a Dahua system of mine. My system currently consists of 6, 2MP Starlight cameras (HDW5231R-ZE) and a Dahua NVR5216 POE. The system has worked pretty well but I've recently made the decision to jump to the Blue Iris camp. Right out of the gate...

Unreliable Email Notifications from Dahua NVR

I appreciate the replies. I went and setup an account with Sendinblue. It is working much better. Dahua is killing me with their 2-3 emails per notification. The free Sendinblue account lets you send 300 emails/day. I almost zapped that yesterday doing yard work.

Unreliable Email Notifications from Dahua NVR

Thanks Tony for the reply. I feel like the Yahoo mail server might be an issue too, but I have nothing to base that off of. In regards to Gmail, I had one hell of a time setting up that and gave up. I’ll start looking for another mail server.

Unreliable Email Notifications from Dahua NVR

Hello all, I have a NVR5216 POE with several HDW5231R-ZEs. The nvr has been setup with IVS zones and email w/ screen cap attachment when the zones are violated. I LOVE this feature but I am really struggling with the reliability of this setup lately. When the system is working well, the zone...

Nothing is misunderstood, I was looking for clarification. You said “that firmware is closed.” I thought you might have been talking about another build.

I'm getting a message in the new NVR 4.0 firmware that says "Turn off recording before the updates" or something like that. Is there a convenient way to disable the camera recording?

    Big update!! NVR5XXX-4KS2_MultiLang_V4.000.0000000.0.R.20190713

I just did the update to my NVR5216 POE via the web interface. That process was smooth. The new UI looks great. No plug ins are required for Safari 12.1.1. Some of my encoding settings had changed after the updated. I had a few camera's FPS setting changed. The ePOE status appears to be...

    Dahua NVR PoE Connection Quality

I'm starting to get into the final stages of my Dahua security camera setup. I was playing with the NVR today and noticed an odd indication on the PoE connection page and I am wondering if I should be concerned or rework my connections. The NVR is a NVR5216 PoE, Camera 1 is a HDBW4231AFS, Camera...

Dahua NVR issue with setting IVS intrusion area

I’m starting to regret going with the Dahua NVR instead of the Blue Iris build. Live and learn. Anyhow, I’m currently in the process of installing my system and I have an NVR5216 POE. I’m trying to sort out how to make the NVR flag motion/movement in the playback menu. So far I’ve been...

Dahua NVR Quiet Silent Fan Mod

You’re right. As the saying goes “there is no free lunch”. To move an adequate amount of air with a 40mm fan, you’ve got to spin it fast. Fast means noise. No matter how the fan is designed.

Have you been successfully terminating solid core CAT5/6 with RJ45?

I bought some today because of you comment and I’m curious. I have a bad habit of doing that. When they come in I’ll let you know how they fit. Which RJ45s and crimper are you using in your field? Here’s some background on the modular plugs for those interested. The rise of modular plug...

Have you been successfully terminating solid core CAT5/6 with RJ45?

@mat200 and everyone else, thank you for your input. Mat you are right about the desire for patch cables. Those networking guys love premade wires. That just isn’t feasible in my applications, especially now that the wiring has been ran. My current plan is to terminate in a keystone patch...

Have you been successfully terminating solid core CAT5/6 with RJ45?

I've been doing a good bit of reading lately on the practices of terminating CAT cables. The general consensus from the networking guys is that solid core CAT cables should never have a crimp style RJ45 installed. Regardless if it is made for solid core or not. Their position is that solid core...

Sanity Check for Dahua Mini Wedge Height at Front Door with stairs

@aristobrat that’s my neighbor’s dog. Her family doesn’t treat her too well so she spends a lot of time with us. She’s a sweet girl. @looney2ns Yes I was referring to the most recent screen caps. I think the most recent placement looks pretty good. Obviously not ideal. Given the camera and...

Sanity Check for Dahua Mini Wedge Height at Front Door with stairs

@looney2ns implemented you suggestion in trial no. 84. Pointing down really made an improvement to the package drop location. I'd like to point it down further but it looks like I've reached the rotational limit of the camera swivel. It also appears that I will be contending with a good bit of...

Sanity Check for Dahua Mini Wedge Height at Front Door with stairs

Hah. I knew that comment was coming. That’s ok though, that’s on me. Thanks for being polite about it. The convenience of the phone makes it so easy to post pics. Since I’m really taking a rough stab at it I figured the phone pics would suffice. I haven’t hooked up the dvr to the network yet and...

Sanity Check for Dahua Mini Wedge Height at Front Door with stairs

@tangent thank you again for the advice. I implemented your suggestion. Turned the camera 90• and changed the orientation in the software. Took me a minute to figure out how to maintain the aspect ratio. Here’s how it looks now. Please pay no mind to the attire. I’ve been attempting to give...
