    Proper BI settings backup

My PC is not connected to the Internet. I am confused on why this matters. Are you saying that before exporting settings, the license should be deactivated? Or, deactivate AFTER export? The latter makes sense to me some degree... I'll check help file to see if it is any clearer there.

    Proper BI settings backup

Hello! Please point to a post or thread; Searched (may be, not enough) didn't find info on proper way to backup / restore BI settings specifically: Cameras, Motion, Alerts, i.e. core functions and their settings. Right now, I image OS drive but, just in case I have to reload OS or start...

    Color Night Vision Security Cameras

Hello All, It's been a while and I hope everyone is healthy and well. Hard to believe (for me) but, technology can improve so, the question: Are there any security cameras with full color night vision that is affordable, practical & reliable for home surveillance etc., (like Dahua Starlight...

    5.1.0 - February 16, 2020

Hello, Currently, I am on 4.8x version It is running fine and I don't use the web UI. Should I upgrade and if so, what are the benefits / improvements that justify it. I am curious if there are any improvements to core... Also, is it a full purchase from 4.8x or how should I go about this...

how to use different triggers based on different zones..

Interesting idea. This could work and probably turn off recording etc., ... currently away from the system, will try and see if it allows adding the Alert function without recording... it should in theory... thank you!

how to use different triggers based on different zones..

Experimenting with MQTT and trying to automate things. Right now, one zone covers the entire FOV and in case of motion, trigger MQTT... this part works fine. Now, I would like to use a second zone and send a different topic to turn on say, exterior lights when motion on the driveway is...

BlueIris Hardware acceleration issue with H.265

Granted, backing up or IOW, basically "mirroring" the BI data to remote NAS drive is something I will implement after reading your post as it makes total sense to me. However, I am still trying to understand how actual disk mirroring in the same system "increases the failure possibility".

BlueIris Hardware acceleration issue with H.265

+1 to above ^^ I can't speak for other forms of RAID. My setup uses Mirroring only and that's it. Say I am on 2 week vacation (and as things should occur normally) a drive fails. If cameras are spread out across disks, maybe the front porch keeps recording but the backyard camera has no...

    Review-Dahua Starlight IPC-HDW5231R-ZE 800 meter capable ePOE

Try going back to some basics such as factory resets, use another laptop/computer to access / test. Clear/delete history, cookies and autocomplete and temp files on computer. Try again after that. Isolate the problem. If you do find the camera's firmware is not good, there are some threads...

    Review-Dahua Starlight IPC-HDW5231R-ZE 800 meter capable ePOE

IMO, I don't think it is a bad choice. Plus, I read somewhere that the VF lens is a tad bit better. Also, it is nice to be able to zoom if you need to. What if you switch this camera to another location where the zoom is essential to establish proper FOV?

    Review-Dahua Starlight IPC-HDW5231R-ZE 800 meter capable ePOE

+1 on this. It's gotta be a coincidence. Yesterday, I had to reposition the camera to avoid the soffit glare. Like your situation, now the IR illuminates the grass and not the actual path. Next thought is to add some kind of base to increase the space between camera base and mounting area...

    Review-Dahua Starlight IPC-HDW5231R-ZE 800 meter capable ePOE

This is same issue I was dealing with and finally decided to reposition (turn the camera away and adjust angle/tilt as well) which helped a great deal but now I have a "curved" picture towards the edges of video output. Still, it is better than having IR reflected so strongly that output was...

    Review-Dahua Starlight IPC-HDW5231R-ZE 800 meter capable ePOE

The settings file in general, (possible that not all camera makes/models do the same) saves user settings and camera parameters. If the camera has UPNP turned on AND connected to Internet etc., then saving and restoring a backup won't do any good as that would restore same insecure conditions...

    Review-Dahua Starlight IPC-HDW5231R-ZE 800 meter capable ePOE

Can't you just restore the settings backup -if you have one... This should be done before a firmware upgrade. This is the reason why I always export a settings backup right after making "semi-permanent" changes or tweaks to existing setup.

Dahua day/night switch utility - DahuaSunriseSunset

Finally, I am at the point to tackle this profile switching business. I have Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-ZE camera and (correct me if wrong) thought that it would have a "LDR" or Light Dependent Resistor aka, Light Sensor to sense the ambient light and allow for switching profiles. My design is a...

Claim: Jaywalk in China + Facial recognition = Fine to WeChat 20 sec later

..seems like it won't be long before we get our version of this. There are already stories about people getting speeding tickets based on less time taken between toll gates.. and of course, I had a ticket sent to my house passing through an unmanned tollbooth without proper change.. but that was...

Blue Iris in VMWare ESXi 6.7 with passthrough of Intel integrated graphics

That sucks.. it would be great if your motherboard supported it and I could've asked you more questions... :) OTH, you might be able to pick up a compatible board for little money given that the CPU is relatively old... just saying... :) Another thing to think about (which I haven't...

Any way to send arbitrary (http) command when a camera is being viewed?

You could build a static web page with onload, publish required mqtt json payload and then load BI web ui URL to that specific camera... (check camera URLs in help). Even then, you would still have to wait for camera to boot up. If PIR is not detecting motion, (I am assuming) no need to...

Something I have totally missed about support/updates Blue Iris

I totally agree with this! Not to put anyone down and everyone is entitled to have their opinion but for the stability, features, performance and flexibility, there is really no reason to even think twice. If my service is up and can't get update, I'll just buy the latest, period. Truth be...

Blue Iris in VMWare ESXi 6.7 with passthrough of Intel integrated graphics

Exactly.. and you are forgetting the probable OCD factor on my part in there as well. :). IMHO, if there are any critical clips to be saved, they should be exported out to another location and stored there. In the event the database gets corrupted, as it happened once when I was randomly...

Blue Iris in VMWare ESXi 6.7 with passthrough of Intel integrated graphics

I suppose it wouldn't make a difference (haven't tested it). It is probably more of a habit than anything else. I just stop BI as it is the only service running i.e. processing, storing database on the main SSD which is being imaged.. and .. also camera feed -but that's on another drive so...

Blue Iris in VMWare ESXi 6.7 with passthrough of Intel integrated graphics

Please post your findings when you get a chance. One thing I really like about Virtual Machines is that they don't take the entire system down when they hang. FYI, I am not promoting and not affiliated with the product/company below; just sharing my experience. I use Macrium Reflect for disk...

Blue Iris in VMWare ESXi 6.7 with passthrough of Intel integrated graphics

This is what I suggest to implement as well. On the other hand, for all intents and purposes, even Win10 only sees most of the hardware through its "drivers" etc., therefore running even Win10 as a VM makes sense too. The only show stopper was the Intel GPU pass through. In the past this was...

Blue Iris in VMWare ESXi 6.7 with passthrough of Intel integrated graphics

Yes, this helps! Thank you. Also, I wonder if you ever compared performance with Win10 running VMWare Workstation (with Linux / Winx guests) VS ESXi. Other than using containers, the OS layer(s) will be present with both solutions so, I am curious which runs better.

Maybe I missed it... but any update to this section of Cliff Notes?

Thanks Mike. The 4k turret you mentioned is fixed 2.8. I really would like the Varifocal type. What do you guys think of this: DS-2CD2646G1-IZ(S) Or this: DS-2CD3685G0-IZS Does the same apply to HIKVISION as it did for DAHUA as in International versions (i.e. HDW5231R-ZE) being better than...

What I really want (and most like all our fellow members here) is a eyeball/turret 4k with starlight (or like) performance... When will we see that day...?:idk:
