Too late to attempt this tonight, but I had the same reaction. I almost cried after spending a good hour getting the cam back up on the wall. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. =) I'm really hoping your method does the trick!

You make a good point and it’s something I’ve been thinking about. The junction box is mounted vertically on the wall on the first level of the home, so there isn’t much protection from the roof soffit on the second level. I suspect water seeped down the wall and got in behind the junction box...
