Latest BlueIris software update contains Trojan according to Windows Defender

So you are a staff member on this board and you call someone an idiot for trying to help out its members with a possible security issue on a forum that deals in security? Be better than that. Don't speak to me or anyone else that way. It's disrespectful, rude, and very immature.

Latest BlueIris software update contains Trojan according to Windows Defender

It is the most recent download that is available today through the update interface in the software. I did send blue iris support an email but I received a standard reply of it will take them some time to get to my support request.

Latest BlueIris software update contains Trojan according to Windows Defender

The only reason someone would want to deny the existence of a trojan is to exploit it. If Windows Defender is wrong, great! This should have been resolved before the update was made available. At the worst, BI is distributing a trojan, at best the software release lifecycle is very poor and...

Proper recording / motion settings for blizzards?

OK thanks. I just started playing with object detection as my cameras aren't picking up cars and other large objects to trigger a recording. But, the clouds pass over and motion triggers the recording. Quite frustrating =)

Proper recording / motion settings for blizzards?

Hello all, I just got my BI v5 setup with a bunch of cameras last night. Really appreciate the how-to for consuming less CPU. Extremely valuable while I wait for a firesale on servers to happen =) Of course last night there was a blizzard so I have hours of recordings from multiple outside...

Machine for BI and a few other things...

Well that's not too bad. My gaming machine has 16 i9-9900k cores w/ 16 GB of RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce 2080 Super. It's safely overclocked. I'll test BI recording all cameras at max res while viewing over a web browser or two on that with your i7-7800 spec in mind.

Yes, I read that too. I still need a ballpark proc and memory size/speed to start with =)

Machine for BI and a few other things...

I used this formula from the hardware wiki: Add up the total megapixels per second (MP/s) you intend to run. Example: For two 8MP cameras each at 15 FPS you have 2 (cameras) * 8 (MP) * 15 (FPS) = 240 MP/s Technically I did the math with the current 14 that I have. 14 * 8 * 15 = 1680 Since...

Machine for BI and a few other things...

Don't worry, I did my research and chose appropriately for my application and trade offs. Here's a great review that goes into a lot of the details. There are some use cases where the camera is the best choice and some where a 2MP would be better. I obviously bought hardware based on my use...

Machine for BI and a few other things...

Yeah the chart in the wiki said I should get a high end ryzen. But, the testing showed that the CPU was fairly idle in comparison. So it wasn't clear what the exact requirements are.

Machine for BI and a few other things...

Yeah I calculated out to around 1700 MP/sec. But then I look at those systems w/32 GB RAM and they are more expensive than my Alienware for Gaming!

Machine for BI and a few other things...

If I were to buy this exact machine, how would BI do with 16 4K cameras? What else should I add besides spinning disk for storage? I was reading the other Ryzan thread that indicated more and faster memory might be required. What about a video card? Thanks!

    Hello from Colorado!

Good caveat of surveillance vs security for cameras. Cameras of course aren't the only component of security =) I've been in IT for decades, so your list above holds true for tech in general (don't use wifi, don't use hacked Chinese brands, don't use cloud storage, don't use insecure protocols...

    Hello from Colorado!

Hello everyone, happy to have found these forums! Just about to setup my home security, and originally I thought I was going to use Ubiquti gear. After reading through some posts and the Wiki, I think that will be changing =) Looking forward to learning more and implementing a system I'm happy with.
