    Hikvision AcuSense PCI-B18Z2S

ok, so I'll answer my own question. There are G3 and G5 versions of this camera. I bought a second one of these cameras, and it was manufactured in July 2022 and is a G5 version, so the transition from G3 to G5 takes place either in June 2022 or July 2022. G3 version have SN starting with...

    Hikvision AcuSense PCI-B18Z2S

So it appears that this camera may come in a G3 and G5 version without submodel differentiation. The US Hikvision website indicates that there is a G3 and a G5 firmware for this camera. I just picked up a used one with a build date of May 2022, and it will only accept the G3 version. The...

HikVision SMB/CIFS Issues - A Summary of Fixes

Yeah, after I switched from using my Mac to using my ASUS router (Linux) as an SMB server, its been smooth sailing. I've been able to mount any size volume I want, but so far, I think the largest volume I've tried is 512 GB.

HikVision SMB/CIFS Issues - A Summary of Fixes

The test file is not a directory, at least in my experience. For your screen shot of the HDD Management page, are you referring to HDD No. 9 being 109 GB vs the 49 GB indicated in the terminal window?

HikVision SMB/CIFS Issues - A Summary of Fixes

Well, its 2020, trying to use the MacOS built-in SMB server for Hikvision cameras is no easier. There is an option to enable SMB1 on the MacOS High Sierra built-in SMB server: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204021 There is at least one person who appears to have been able to force SMB2...

Camera not uploading images to FTP servers during some parts of the day

Its on the LAN. I have plenty of slots available on the account being used on the FTP server. To help try to narrow down the issue, I just switched the two misbehaving cameras over to another FTP server that I just set up.

Camera not uploading images to FTP servers during some parts of the day

I was wrong about switching to SFTP fixing the issue. The camera still stops sending images after about 8 am, and then doesn't resume until later in the day. The outage seems to vary depending on the day of the week, but I have checked and reset the image record schedule several times. I...

Camera not uploading images to FTP servers during some parts of the day

So I solved the issue with one camera by switching to SFTP. However, the other camera has an older firmware that does not yet offer SFTP capability, and yet ironically, it is a newer generation camera.

Camera not uploading images to FTP servers during some parts of the day

I've got three Hikvision cameras, all different models, in use. One reliably uploads images during all times of the day, but the other two are not uploading images from mid-morning to mid-afternoon. I've gone through all the settings a bunch of time and verified that the FTP settings are...

Using own SMTP server for email notifications, any idea?

The issue is the TLS version used by the cameras. Some of the newer firmwares now have the required TLS version.

    Recommendations on camera and NVR

The DS-2CD2385FWD-I is obsolete, and the DS-2CD2383G0-l will be obsolete soon as well. In fact, it already is obsolete in the sense that two-generation newer Hikvision cameras are available on the international market. I've got three cameras in use right now: DS-2CD2T35FWD-I5 (3 MP bullet...

Tweaking Intrusion Detection zone window size range

Hey Folks, I understand the basics of the intrusion detection algorithm, but one aspect that I'm not sure about is the acceptable size range of the actual intrusion zone window. Based on my understanding of the Intrusion Detection algorithm, it would seem that the intrusion zone window size...

Acusense cam comparison: DS-2CD2146G1-IS vs DS-2CD2T86G2-2I

Got some more testing time with the 86G2. One odd issue I found is that Intrusion Detection doesn't work well at 15 fps with 4K resolution. At 12, 16, 18, and 20 fps, the 86G2 readily captures entry into the box, but at 15 fps, I can walk right through without triggering. I tried all frame...

Acusense cam comparison: DS-2CD2146G1-IS vs DS-2CD2T86G2-2I

I've now got my hands on a US-spec DS-2CD2146G1-IS and a UK-spec DS-2CD2T86G2-2I. These are obvious different form factor cameras, but I think its still worth comparing because both are Acusense cameras. The DS-2CD2146G1-IS is one generation older than the DS-2CD2T86G2-2I, but the...

US models lagging behind other markets?

Amazingly, I've already got my hands on a UK-spec DS-2CD2G86G2-2I. Amazingly quick shipping from the UK. Setting it up now. So far, so good.

    Acusense Hardware or Software?

It looks like the DS-2CD2146G2-I will be available in the UK imminently.

US models lagging behind other markets?

Thanks. I can generally handle not having US technical support although they have been useful in confirming unexpected behavior. UK prices in USD seem to be on-par with US, but at least I can get access to the latest models.

US models lagging behind other markets?

It looks like Hikvision US models are lagging behind models in other markets. In the UK market, I can see a DS-2CD2T86G2-I (8 MP Acusense camera), but there's nothing like that in the US yet. Currently in the US the DS-2CD2T85G1-I appears to be the newest camera in that product line, but it...

New Hikvision Acusense NVR or DeepInView NVR?

I'm doing some trial indoor testing with a US DS-2CD2146G1-IS that I picked up a few days ago. Latest firmware is installed, and I do all my motion sensing using the camera rather than an NVR. I'm not sure if its characteristic to the G1 series or to Acusense, but basic motion detection is...

    DS-2CD2T35FWD-I5 + 5.6.3_190923 = broken basic motion sensing

The tech didn't know a downgrade wasn't possible. He didn't believe me when I told him it wouldn't work, so I allowed a remote session onto my computer where he saw for himself. After that, he got on the phone with Product Development where, along with the info I provided in my earlier post...

    DS-2CD2T35FWD-I5 + 5.6.3_190923 = broken basic motion sensing

So, I just got off the phone with Hikvision USA tech support where I was told that Expert mode motion sensing functionality has been disabled, and the entire Expert mode capability will be eliminated in a future firmware. No explanation as to why could be provided. Cute. I was also told that...

    DS-2CD2T35FWD-I5 + 5.6.3_190923 = broken basic motion sensing

After wasting the better part of a day testing various configurations, I'm reasonably certain that the basic motion detection system when operating in Expert mode is borked in the v5.6.3 firmware. This is all of course using the camera's motion sensing algorithms rather then an NVR. After...

    DS-2CD2T35FWD-I5 + 5.6.3_190923 = broken basic motion sensing

I've already erased and recreated the basic motion sensing areas. That had no effect. I thought you meant a full reset performed in the System section. After that, presumably I'd have to set up NAS and FTP connections, email info, video settings, event settings, camera name, time server, DST...

    DS-2CD2T35FWD-I5 + 5.6.3_190923 = broken basic motion sensing

I agree a reset is not hard, but its a bit of a pain. Can I save the config and import it after the reset? I know this isn't typically recommended for wifi routers, but wondering if its ok for Hivision cameras.

    DS-2CD2T35FWD-I5 + 5.6.3_190923 = broken basic motion sensing

Some people say that resetting should be performed after any wifi router firmware upgrade, but so far, I've not ever needed to do that despite many router firmware upgrades to several different routers over the last three years. I was hoping Hikvision firmware would be high enough quality to...

    DS-2CD2T35FWD-I5 + 5.6.3_190923 = broken basic motion sensing

I was hoping to avoid resetting the camera, but its reasonable to try that before going through the hack downgrade procedure. I'll probably call Hikvision on Monday as well.

    DS-2CD2T35FWD-I5 + 5.6.3_190923 = broken basic motion sensing

Motion sensing was working fine on the previous firmware (5.5.61), but with the new firmware, I can set up basic motion sensing events and see the motion sensing occurring with dynamic analysis enabled, but the camera no longer records snapshots or video no matter how sensitive I make the motion...
