Same here, lots of practice from the pocket, dry and live.
The club I belong to allows draw and fire, movement while firing, etc......at least until some asshat ruins it for us all. The club's been around since 1964, but more of todays membership are proving to be asshats more so than ever before.

I carry year round, too.... a Remington RM380 in nylon pocket holster + spare mag on belt, goes everywhere...church, grocery store, fetch the mail, etc.

About 6 or 7 years ago I'm taking the 2 garbage cans down to the end of the driveway, in my pajamas, head back to the house and behind me I hear a "bleat", like a goat. Running up the middle of the road is a fawn running as hard as it could, a coyote about 4 or 5 yards behind and closing. I standing there with nothing in my hand so I cupped my hands and when the coyote got near me (he was intently focused) I clapped VERY loudly and shouted as loud as I could "HEY!" It caught him by surprise because he slammed on the brakes, looked at me somewhat disoriented and the fawn cut across the front lawn and headed to the woods where I think the mama doe was. He continued the chase but I think I may have startled him just long enough...I'll never know.
What I do know is that ever since that day, I carry even to get the mail or take out the cans.

Remember, you only have so many characters......If it was just me, I would have been much more blunt...but I have a wife and two young daughters depending on me.
