4ch dahua nvr, huge delay when playing back recordings? normal??

just gone form hikvision NVR to a Dahua NVR4104HS-P-4KS2 4CH with 4 POE. i have upgraded it to V4.
i thought it would be better and faster going from hikvision to dahua but it was the opposite for me.
whenever i go to play back recordings i get a delay of around 10 seconds every time i move the mouse to a new point in the time line i was to view from, i just get the hourglass on the mouse pointer then 10 seconds later it starts playing.
is this normal or is there a setting or something wrong??

Are you viewing with a monitor directly connected to the NVR, with a web browser, or smartPSS? I don't have the delay for any of these with my 5216-4ks2. I'm not using the v4 firmware.

What cameras are you using and what is the Megapixels per frame, frame rate and Iframe values. The NVR as Max 80Mbps Incoming Bandwidth. Check the other specs on the NVR.

Where did you purchase the NVR ?

viewing directly from NVR itself with its monitor.
only have 1 camera on it DH-IPC-HDW5442TM-AS set to 30fps
got it from empire candy i think. both cam and nvr

How have you found changing from the Hikvision to Dahua NVR (apart from the slow playback mentioned?)

Are you using any Hik cameras on it?

That’s the low end underpowered NVR series fwiw

so far prefer hikvision NVR's but prefer dahua cameras. i no longer use hikvision cameras, dahua seem better. no not using any hikvision cameras on the dahua nvr.
