Evening all
i have just replaced my x3 IP cams with Hickvision 4K units.
Quality is amazing BUT my god it takes up a LOT of HD space!!
are many of you using 4K IP cameras? if so what kind of storage capacity do you have for them? - im running my 3 cameras of a 2TB Synology setup.

thanks

I have a 4K (8 MP) running on BI server, with a frame rate of 15 and an IFrame rate for 15. High quality, storage type h.265 . It used 3.8 GB / hour.

I'm ok
I have 2 4K cameras added into the mix of 25+ cameras running. I have cut the 4K down to 5 FPS.
It gives me a great high res view of an area that does not change often. But it allows for great views of
faces for identification if needed. Kept me from having to install several lower res cameras to cover the same area.

Yes, adding megapixels does require more storage space. I am running one 4K camera, five 2K cameras and two 1K cameras. I run the 4K camera at 20fps, and the rest at 15FPS. Also running 265 compression. I want to be able to go back for 60 days, so I went with 48TB of storage. I will have had it installed for 3 weeks this Saturday and it looks like I will easily make the 60 days.
