5442 S3 series cams and SMD

Can you use onvif device manager remotely or do you have to be on the same network?
It needs to have access to the cam. Normally you'd run it on your network and it goes out and finds your ONVIF cams. But you can enter an IP address. I've not tried a remote IP but think that it would work remotely if the camera was accessible. RDP too I guess but you'd need it running there and have access in via VPN or however.

The NVR does the email for cameras using the PoE ports

Just FYI, ODM does work remotely. Assuming that you have access to the cam. I searched Shodan for an open ONVIF cam and could get into it via the IP and ODM. You'd need whatever user credentials for access if not left wide open.

if your cams and nvr are working fine, can someone tell me the firmware versions that work for you? i'm guessing people may be reluctant to post what firmware they are using in public due to potential security issues in giving away too much info. you can PM me if that's the case. i'm using the latest ones for the cams and nvr. i wish i could try older ones but they're not posted on andy's site, dahua's site or dahua wiki.

i know one of the cams came with 2023-08-02 because i took a pic. i wanna try it but can't find it.

actually found these:

i'm guessing the first is the firmware and the second is the algorithm firmware and they are the correct ones to go with each other?

dahua wiki is NOT a good source of firmware. it's not updated.

You should download firmware from Andy website (if you like IPCAM logo) or main dahua website (with Dahua logo)..

I did for the current firmware but they don't have the old firmware. I only tried the old firmware on one cam.

just an update, i factory reset, reinstalled firmware, factory reset the nvr and started from scratch and the issue persists. a possum triggered ivs human detection about 10 hours later.

what's the difference between "global sensitivity" in global config vs sensitivity in the ivs rule? what do they actually do? i assumed global sensitivity would adjust all your ivs sensitivity rules all at once but that doesn't seem to be the case as adjusting the global doesn't change the displayed value of the ivs one.

if the max detection size is greater than the ivs intrusion area, can this cause a problem? i have no min size as recommended but max size can't be deleted. also, on the nvr 5216-ei there is a min size showing that can't be deleted. all settings were made in cameras. ai is by camera, motion & smd & accupick is off on all devices.

for the most problematic cam, i have put the ivs rule sensitivity down to a 2 to see what happens.
