5442 S3 series, weird bitrate issue

- All AI Codec are developed to allow to use LOWER BANDWIDTH that in normal static modes..
I use on cameras (5442) mostly AI Codec with ABR with bandwidth set to 4096 and max bandwidth 8192...
I'm not seeing that with mine. I never see it fall to a rate lower than the rest of my cams running General codec+CBR (or see it spike up). As I said, set at 4MP/8,192/15/15 it stays relatively consistent at ~1,000 kB/s +/- 100 or so. Looks and acts the same as my other cams running the same settings. Static scene with nothing happening stays the same as an active scene with people and cars triggering. Have to play with it some and see if I can figure out why no difference. No big deal in my case. Actually kind of glad that it doesn't change things since all that I was going for with it was to stop the pulsing. Just curious now.

I obviously saw a big drop to 1000 from 10240 at night in a completely black scene, but daytime it hovers right at my set 10240, no difference

I've looked at night but that was a well-lighted, busy scene that's effectively pretty much like daylight as far as a bunch of "stuff" in view. I'll set up on one of my LPR cams. That will be a large and more obvious change between black and something else and see what that does tonight.

but in what mode? static / ai codec? CBR? ABR? if ABR then what maximum bandwidth?
what Smart Plan is enabled?

AI codec which forces CBR below when chosen. No ABR available on any of mine. IVS only.

Which I think is the same as @bigredfish other than he's running NVR/SPSS and I'm BI on the backend (and he's running higher bitrate/FPS).

None of mine are S3s. But I don't think his 5241-12 that he was showing on the previous page is either. Which is one of the cams that I also tried (in addition to a 5442 S2 and SD4A425DB-HNY).

Not worth upgrading anything for me. I was just curious why the difference between his and mine. As I said originally, the AI codec got rid of the pulsing for me and that's all that I wanted out of it. I'm good with the rest as it is.

Yes, apparently need to update FW, I do have S3's but same result as the 5241. On mine AI forces CBR and is variable but no ABR.

But I'm not updating FW thats working and really dont care too much about saving some disk space.
