8CH NVR with PoE for 2MP Longse cameras

http://www.dpreview.com/news/828901...start-image-sensor-production-by-end-of-month

According to Sony they will start back up "any day now". It could be anywhere from 1 month to 4, who knows....

Still this sucks, I was thinking of trying a few fixed cameras myself.

I know, I guess their supply must be pretty low or out and prices went up for the sensors. Maybe they are selling quite a few cameras with those IMX chipsets. How do the other chipsets they offer compare?

How long is a piece of string?

I guess you currently don't have any IP cameras? The Hikvision and Dahuas aren't IMX and most people here aren't complaining. Most of my stuff isn't IMX despite me preferring it, so it's not an outrageous difference.

The Omnivision OV4689 is a common one. I'm testing a cam now with it and it's not bad.

Like @Del Boy said, many cams don't use Sony.

I have one cam that uses the IMX322 and it's actually my LEAST favorite cam and another one that DOES use the IMX322 and it IS my favorite cam.

Just because you love chocolate doesn't mean you'll eat a chocolate covered dog biscuit.

If you want the Sony sensors, I guess it's a wait.

I have cams, just trying new ones, replacing old ones, installing some for family and friends. Know what I want, what I want to try, and will just wait. No rush for me.

But if you need cams now.... well it's your call.

Spot on @stoney7713, it's not just the sensor that makes the camera. Imagine a rubbish car with an amazing engine, it's being crippled by the other components.

If you need cams now but are techy but also a newb, get some Dahuas from AE.
