Hi everyone,

I need some urgent help in choosing the right gear for my land . I researched and come up with a list of equipment. Since this is my first time, I just wannt ask everyone's advice and valuable input.

I have2000 m2 block with no street light. The workers did dodgy work so they have to come back and fix it and the neighbours have been stealing our building material at night. I know there is no perfect camera but I can only afford 1 camera at one location for now, and will have to pick one with the balace between night and day vision.

During both day and night, I need to recognise faces within 50m

I will get a mix of 4mp and 2mp
Ideal requirements:
  • 4mp at least 1/1.8 inch
  • 2mp at least 1/2.8 inch
  • IR
  • sound
  • outdoor sun and rain 24/7
better if it has:
  • AI
  • light
  • ONVIF
----

My Dahua list:
Recorder and switch
NVR5216-EI (I want to future-proof myself in case I want to expand to 4K and more cameras)
CS4010-8ET-60

4mp CAM (this is the biggest problem I need to solve)
5442TP-SE (4IR, no light, I think there is no audio)
I cannot find any other 5442 in Viet Nam, anyone in Vietnam know where I can get them within days in Vietnam? hit me up. I need to find an alternative
Is the 5442 night vision worth it that much that I should sacrifice the audio? I dont have any other closer camera to record audio. Vision is more important for me but It would be nice to hear people talking about doing dodgy work.

2449M-S-B-PRO or 2449TL-S-PRO (PRO has no IR)
Since there is no other 5442 variant, if I want 4mp 1/1.8 inch with sound, these seem the only alternative to 5442 at my locantion. Are the 2449 PRO's night colour ok to substitute the 5442 IR? Do you know any other suggestions?

2mp CAM
2249T-AS-IL (IR, warm light, audio)
This seems to fit what I want for the less important area
Does anyone have any experience with these? can I choose to turn warm light off completely and use IR only if i want to?

2241T-AS (wizsense 4IR no warm light)
seems solids?

3241E-AS-S2 (1IR Wizsense, 1 IR, no warm light, include 6mm lense)
Whats your thoughts

2249S-S-IL (1 IR + 1 warm light, Wide angle 2.8mm)
Whats your thoughts?

-----

What do you think about these cameras?
Reliable?
Any other better alternative?
Is there any thing bad I should be aware of?
Any particular camera you would stay away from?

Thank you

+1 above - stay away from the 2449 - the 3449 is better in every way. The 2449 lights are either on or off and cannot come on based on motion if that is important to you.

Fixed lens cameras for every camera is rarely the right choice.

As far as cameras, without knowing what your goals of the camera is, this thread is used as the go to for the new person here outlining the commonly recommended cameras (along with Amazon links) based on distance to IDENTIFY that represent the overall best value/best bang for the buck in terms of price and performance day and night. It might be a 2MP camera in some instances. Many here feel 4MP is the current sweet spot for these cameras.

The Importance of Focal Length over MP in camera selection

And coupled with that thread is this great thread which will show why all of the same 2.8 or 3.6mm cameras is the wrong choice (these are the common focal lengths consumer brands sell):

i-want-2-8mm-cameras-everywhere-to-see-everything-this-is-why-you-need-specific-fovs-with-purposeful-focal-lengths.70053/

We would encourage you to look at those threads in detail.

It will probably raise more questions than answers LOL.

Reach out to trusted vendor @EMPIRETECANDY - he has a website, Amazon store, and DM. He ships all over the world.

Welcome @2much2bear

If you are new to this topic, I highly recommend getting one good 4MP 1/1.8" IP PoE varifocal camera and small PoE switch and length of good quality copper wired AWG 25 or 26 cat5e/6 cable and playing around a bit and learning before jumping into a complete setup.

Same camera but bullet with more LEDs better IR

Both can be programmed to activate white lights on Tripwire alert and go to IR when movement stops.

NONE of those are going to recognize faces at 50M
Thanks for your advice. I looked at this 3449 before, but it seems to have less lux at 0.0005 than the 5442 which is at 0.0002. I don't know how significant this difference is And the lumination says: Multicore warm + IR. With this combination, will I still get the same full benefit of IR?

If I go with this 3449T1-AS-PV-PRO, it will be more expensive than the non-audio 5442TP-SE, so i just want to be sure that this 3449 is somewhat on par or not too far behind with the 5442TP-SE in term of night vision
cheers

I woiuld love to spend time playing around and slowly adding more camera as i learn. But the construction already started and I am in a different country. So I have to get a tech to set up ASAP and hope everything will go smoothly. Thats why im super worried :(

Yes.
The 3449 Pro is equal or better IMHO at light pickup at night in B&W/IR than even the 5442.

Its is very close all around. As I mention in my testing, there is a bit more noise than the 5442 but it’s manageable.

See this thread, page 6 & 7
