Does the console have to be open for it to send alerts to phone and app? I have it running as a service, but do not seem to get alerts. When the console is open I seem to get them. I have the BI tools installed as well. What is the best way to make sure that the app is always running, alerting, etc? I have watched all the tutorial videos, and looked at the wiki. Also I have gone through most of the forum and is there a hey her is the best setting especially for a IPC-HDW5231R-Z setup. Also randomly one of the cameras will go into a weird like delay when viewing it in the software. The other is fine, and the CPU usage is at like 30%. BI set the cameras up in the PTZ section as ONVIF is that correct? Thanks.

no, alerts work when in service as well.
ensure your phone is not killing the app.
you dont need to setup ptz on the 5231 at all in bi...its a one time setup that you can do via browser, its not intended to be used as a zoom.
Delay in the video is generaly a result of bad network gear or setup...ideally, the cameras should all be connected to a switch and the blue iris machine should be connected to the same switch or a switch that cascades of it..not to the router...

How do I make sure the phone is not killing the app.
Both camera are hooked up to same swith, network etc. One camera is running smooth the other seems to work sometimes then others lags the video.

Ok so the lag that comes and goes seem to only be in BI. When i am watching in BI and the camera interface, the camera one is fine and BI is stuttery and skips through what it is seeing. Like car goes through and instead of smooth i get like three jump images of it going through. Then it will be ok.

every phone is different...google.
you gotta answer the questions...how is your network setup?
the fact that watching the camera interface works without lag is meaningless, it doesnt use the same protocols...if you are running any data through your router, stop.

Ok thanks for all the info. The recordings are fine, so just something with the live preview.

A combo. I have been checking it probably a network thing as stated above. Just try to pin it down. They are on the same switch etc and one no issues, and one randomly has slow ping response.

Take your blue iris machine off your router! I can only deduce that it is attached to your router because you refuse to answer...you cannot get effective help that way..

Blue Iris machine is attached to a switch that goes to the poe swith where the camera are plugged up. The whole network leads in the end to my router. Sorry I did not mean to not answer all of the help is greatly appreciated.

So in case someone else has the lag issues like I explained make sure that "limit decoding unless required" feature on the Video tab of the camera is not checked....:banghead:
