recent Andy camera install at a friends work place children’s daycare. Wondering if there’s anyway to brighten up pic of someones face at main door? Always seems to be darker when under a awning.

You'll have to experiment with a few of the settings. Try enabling WDR or BLC under backlight settings.

Great install. Thanks for sharing.
How are these 2231 cams from Andy holding up outside without any cover? Also, what is the code from the junction boxes you have used for the cams? Are they from Andy? Thanks in advance

I’m having the exact same dark footage issue with my 4231F-AS as people move in closer for the money shot. The WDR is at 40; I have not tried the BLC setting yet.

Please let me know if you figure anything out on your end.

Ok, thank you sir. Being I’m still very new to the IP cam world and to Dahua, I did not know if this was acceptable or if I could do better.

I’ll try to post a pic of the install and a couple more video clips tomorrow.

dark footage issue
Few tricks you can try. the same applies to any photography.

1. increase light from the front - ie add reflective flim to your door, or have permanent light shining out etc - if you have a light that comes on with movement, people will look at it and if it's near the camera, you get their face... :)
2. Change the camera exposure - try manual with increased exposure - this may compromise night time footage/ and cause the brighter background to burn out
3. try playing with WDR settings if available.

@dudemaar , I was curious how you are running the PoE cables to these cameras. I'm currently planning my installs too, and I was looking for ideas. For e.g., the 1st picture on the side of your front door, I was curious how you are running the cable to your PoE switch. Thanks!

@TheE FYI I believe Dahua's WDR switches modes at about 45, becoming much more effective. At least on some camera models.

I used legrand wire mold on the inside wall behind camera up to ceiling tile. There is drop ceiling in the hallways which makes it easy to run wire, then a little fishing into office (drywalled ceiling). using a fish tape and glow rods (the hook attached) to snag fish tape.
