Surprised the Turrets don't use this isntead of plastic.
Thank you so much for this post, and a big shoutout to @bigredfish for sharing his post/results showcasing the benefits he experienced from changing the lens. Ever since I bookmarked his post, I was determined to switch the lenses on my cameras to glass instead of plastic/plexiglass. Finally, I had some time and had a local glass company cut out replacement glass lenses for me. Over the past 4 years, the License Plate camera was displaying signs of UV wear on the plastic lens it originally had. I simply wanted a glass lens to so do not have to deal with it in future, and oh man, the difference is night and day! I love it. Now, I have 7 more cameras to go. Lol!
Andy replied after my last thread saying he was going to get lenses from the OEM so I didn't pursue this any further. Cost is also a contributing factor. I haven't been able to get the replacements below $25 ea. Is there a market for $30-$35 lenses after packing and shipping? I can revisit this if there is a demand.
Even if glass is not possible or financially feasible, surely Andy could just get some OEM replacements and start selling them as an accessory or a "refresh kit". Even if they only last a couple years I think spending $5 vs a new camera is not bad.
I get some of those lens at US, so anyone want to replace the glass, just send me DM. Sure this is for the guys ONLY who bought the cams from us, we don't sell them....
But if those cams are 4 year or 5 years, we highly recommend update to
