Hi,

I have an old DS-2CD4535FWD-iZH8 I found and the 8-32mm doesn't seem like that much of an additional zoom compared to my 2.8-12mm Dahua 3mp cameras. Does anyone have a video or example of what the difference in view may be between a 12mm lens and 32mm normally?

While I do not have Hik cams, I have Dahua. I also do not have the exact comparison you request. But I do have a 2MP cam capture at 13.5mm and a 4MP cam capture at 32mm.

The first one is the 2MP at 13.5mm and the second one is the 4MP at 32mm. Note the stop sign and street light poles are the same poles in both shots.

The added complication is that the 2MP is on a 1/2.8" sensor and the 4MP is on a 1/1.8" sensor.

Thank you for providing the comparison. I wanted to use it primarily for plate capture myself, I assume your 32mm is used for plate capture? It's as I thought not as much of a distance as I would have expected.

I bought that cam specifically to give an overview of the intersection to get make, model, and color of vehicles that are captured by the LPR cams, especially at night. That being said, it sure does a great job of day time plate caps.
