Hi John. I submitted this report on your site a while back but didn't get a response. I assumed it got lost in a storm of spam messages but reading this thread reminded me of it again-
I think I've found a bug in your camera calculator. I've been looking at different PTZ cameras for
distance viewing and have been plugging in various sensor sizes, resolutions, and lens lengths to see
if I can get the PPF I need. For a 1080P camera with a 51mm lens at 154 ft these are the values it
gives me for different sensor sizes-
sensor pixelsperfoot angleofview width
1/4 176.8 4.04 10.9
1/3 132.4 5.39 14.5
1/2.8 98.4 7.25 19.5
1/2.7 118.4 6.03 16.2
1/2.5 110.5 6.46 17.4
1/2.3 98.7 7.23 19.5
1/2 99.4 7.18 19.3
There is a particularly large discrepancy between the 1/3, 1/2.8, and the 1/2.7 sensor sizes.
Seems like there's a significant error calculating the 1/2.8" figures.
Since I've noticed this I've been substituting 1/2.7" for 1/2.8" as a workaround whenever I've needed to in order to get more accurate numbers.
