Came across this asus unit that is affordable and easy to setup with vlan support. This is one feature that is lacking in almost all easy to use home routers. It is only 150 bux. In the past I have recommended the synology rt6600 or wrx560 which are priced at 300 and 220 respectively. I just ordered one of these to play and likely install for a relative.

Yes I am aware that you can roll your own but this makes it easy for anyone running a camera system or iot devices to easily segment them.

EDIT: Unfortunately this is going back. See below.
Try this instead Ubiquiti Networks Cloud Gateway Ultra

WOW that is cheap for that unit and its capabilities.

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on it.
Dong has a pretty detailed review. I'll be installing in a small storefront so won't be able to comment down the Wi-Fi range although it is compatible with ASUS AI mesh.

Unfortunately this is going back. Its a nice small package but simply missing basic functions that are a must for a router like this.
1) There is no way to access the router itself from one of the vlans. There are also no inter-vlan firewall rules available so you can allow one way traffic if you choose. These are available on the synology.
2) There is no way to disable the primary wifi and leave it on for your vlans (or self defined networks). You can disable wifi radio but that will disable wifi totally.

Asus firmware is typically jam-packed with all kinds of features.
The ones you need/want will be buggy or absent.

(Yes, I have Asus router and WAPs in AImesh configuration.)
