I'm also thinking about replacing an Arlo Q, and would like something that will work with Blue Iris, but I'd really prefer a wireless camera for indoors. I've been thinking about getting a WyzeCam which look decent, but they don't work with Blue Iris. It's so affordable I'll probably just go with it anyway. Do any of you recommend something that is low cost (less than $50) that will work with Blue Iris? I've heard it's not efficient to have a 24/7 stream going to Blue Iris via WiFi so I'd be fine with it recording to the microSD card and then just reviewing the footage as needed on Blue Iris if that's an option.

There is a thread discussing the wyzecam using third party firmware to get it to work with BI...however its a junk cam in general....you cannot use BI to view the footage on an sd card...
you should be ok with a single stream on wifi and an sd card for backup...
I saw the thread, and it looked like there were some issues with that third party firmware.
Why don't you like that camera? It is affordable and people have had them outside without a problem. Do you know of something better for around $20 - $30? There is also the WyzeCam Pan which is nice from what I've seen.

The image is crap and its wifi which is crap...this kind of junk is to be used to watch your pets...nothing more. No there is nothing better for 20 dollars...doesnt make the camera any better....junk is junk. They are not weather resistant and cannot be mounted outdoors exposed to rain...the also are usb powered...a joke.
I'm fine with the image quality for indoors because I'm not going to really be using it to identify anyone. And although it's not listed as weather resistant a lot of people have had success, most just putting them in an outdoor mount found on Amazon.
Do you know of anything like this that is wired and will work with Blue Iris? I'm really fine with the quality for indoors. In the mesntime I'll do a search for a cheap IP camera. I'm assuming security isn't an issue on a cheap camera if it's not directly connected to the Internet .
Waiting to hear about how the IPC-K35A is working (especially how well it operates in the dark with minimal lighting), I was thinking of using it for general purpose point usage (i.e. if I need a temporary solution to watch the kitchen or w/e). I ran the IPC-HDW4231EM-ASE past the wife for indoor use and it didn't pass due to WAF. Otherwise leaning to the dome/dual-dome for general indoor use.

I've been using the K35A in the playroom at my house. I have the Annke wireless cube cam (the Hikvision) normally in there so I just swapped the drop and put it next to it. It is a nice camera & Andy can get it to you for a great price (Thank you buddy) . I'll put the daytime side by sides below (will do some night shots tonight). Both pics are with the cams set at their default settings. I feel like the Annke gives me slightly better picture of what my kids are doing, but the K35 does a nice job too. I'll try and do some night shots tonight as well and some video samples.

Looks decent - maybe not quite as nice a pictures as the Annke but not bad. Googling, it looks like Annke is 85 degree FOV vs. 100 degree for the K35A which fits with the images shown. Did you have to do anything weird to get it running w/ BI? Any updating to firmware needed?
Is it my eyes, or is that Dahua a little washed out or soft-focused? Maybe just a difference in the defaults, but the contrast (and I can make out the wood grain in the Annke photo) seems like the 2MP camera is clearer to me.

The Annke is definitely more contrasty (and maybe more saturated) but that's not necessarily meaning you're getting a better picture (more information on the scene). You can see that the darks go to black in the Annke vs still having some color detail in the Dahua, for example.
Ultimately should probably boil down to which field of view is most useful to you. I do like the fact that the Dahua is all white - blends in better than the Annke.

See what you mean, those blowups illustrate that it looks like basically the same number of pixels are available for the same space in both images (meaning look at the hook or a window, seems like roughly the same number of pixels), but the Dahua has a wider field of view. Definitely my eye is picking up on the contrast difference, because even blown up it shows the difference.

yeah the eye has a definite tendency to think that contrast = sharpness. Should note that a truly fair test of image quality would be to make sure there's not some additional image processing (it looks like sharpening to me) being applied to the Annke that could maybe be turned off or modified.
I just bought a used Annke off of Amazon (for about $35) rather than a new Dahua since that's running more like $80.

Rroonnbb the cameras are both in default settings. I'll try and remember to go in later and check what the defaults are because I am aware that by default certain modes are enabled or disabled.

I apologize for the delay. I took all the pix then move the K35A to it's actual position and now I've lost the pix. So I will need to pull the K35A back down and redo some pix. Sorry about that everybody.

new here. where do you find andy's website or does he have an Amazon presence. how do you know what he has to sell? and how do you buy from him? he sounds like a great source for the cameras. I bought half a dozen IP cameras in the last 2 months then found out that none of them work with Blue Iris, you have to use the app that goes with them only and have to go online to watch anything. not what I wanted. that is what I get for not researching all of this first. just looked for good deals with high ratings. stupid me. Now I have started over with 3 sv3c PoE cameras and bought Blue iris version and working great. now need to get 6 more outside camera and 2 or 3 inside ones that will pan. thanks for any answers you can give me. just sounds like Andy is someone you can trust.
