I have my blue iris PC setup on a dedicated PC with a VPN setup thru my router so I can access remotely from my phone. Id like to set the PC tower on a shelf with no monitor and whenever I need to access it just use my main desktop. Is teamviewer the best option for this? As I was reading about this on here I saw some threads say it was unsafe and that a VPN is the best route. I have a VPN setup but really not sure how I would turn that into a teamviewer like experience to remotely control the PC.

Use Remote Desktop. It’s built into the OS.

Yeah that’s one of the reasons I thought windows pro was recommended over home. My plan was to use Remote Desktop but I was told its not very good and that teamviewer is better in terms of i Guess usability and maybe lag?

Windows 10 pro has remote desktop. Window 10 home does not.

The VPN is for remote, external to your home network access, access over the internet. It has no use on the access within the home network.

You can use TeamViewer or remote desktop within your home network without a security risk
