BI 5 is live - Better AI alerts

I also note you are using Internet Explorer, also known as the worst web browser. UI3 suffers in internet explorer. Please end the suffering and use Chrome or Opera :)

LOL. Agreed! IE was the "maybe it's my Chrome and all extensions I use are the problem" alternative. Chrome is my daily driver. IE is backup when Chrome fails. ;).

No matter what I am doing. I am unable to see the BI User interface.. Nothing.. in taskbar or anywhere just see the process running. Even try uninstall and reinstall that has not helped either..

I also note that the UI3 release in this BI 5 build is several versions old now. Ken must have forgotten to include the new release.
Is v75 the latest? There is an update to the full BI5 installer. After running it its using ui3 v75.

Me too. I can't get the console to open up. I removed and reinstalled and same results. Tried to go back to version 4 and console won't show up also.

Same here I just did reinstall app like 3 times now.. Cannot get it to work .. Neither 4 or 5.. I hope someone can address this soon.. What a disaster this upgrade has been so far..

Check task manager. Do you see BlueIris.exe and BlueIrisService.exe running? With nothing showing in the taskbar, these run in the background without anything else showing. With the app open (and taskbar icon in the right, I have another instance of BlueIris.exe (total of 2) running.

As with every update, particularly to a new version, you should wait more than 10 minuets after its release to install it on a primary system.

I guess lesson learned the hardway.. I just hope this can get fixed soon :(

I see it running not hung or anything.. However I do not have anything in taskbar

If all else fails, try backing up (first) then removing the BI registry settings. Close all instances of the app, BACKUP BI registry paths below, remove registry paths, open app, and see if the window appears.

  • Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Perspective Software
  • Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Perspective Software

I believe BI stores its UI window position settings in this registry key below, so for the brave among you, you can always try backing up and removing just THIS key and letting BI recreate it (assuming it will do this). If the 2 or 3 .exe files are running under the details tab in task manager, the console not appearing issue sounds like a window position issue.

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Perspective Software\Blue Iris\WindowMetrics

Here is what I would personally try....

Shutdown all instances of BlueIris.exe (Service, console, etc....)
Run the full installer for V5
Open V5
V5 should say it migrated your settings from V4
Reboot
Open V5 again - Make sure all is well
Uninstall V4 - Select Keep settings
Check if the V4 folder is still under C:\Program Files (mine was). If so, move it somewhere else safe to avoid migration remnants from trying to point toward it
Reboot again for good measure
Open V5 and make sure all is still well

Once complete with the above, check BI 5 settings to make sure nothing is still pointing toward the V4 folder... Like the web-server.

OPTIONAL - Audio alerts tones for each camera may still be pointing toward the V4 folder as they were in my registry settings. Not causing a problem, so I'll mess with that another day. :)

If you encounter the same issue after all the above, backup then delete just "Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Perspective Software\Blue Iris\WindowMetrics" as that single key be the root cause of all the issues.

EDIT: if you’re trying to salvage camera setup data, the only way I can think of is to reimport the broken registry settings into V4 you backed up and try deleting that single key above. If that works, then backup again for good measure, and run the steps I had originally listed above. Some of the steps may not be needed, but it should help track down where things are breaking.

This was the easiest update/upgrade ever. I haven't uninstalled V4 yet.

  • What I especially like about V5 is the quickness of changing the date-picker for the clips and alerts. With V4, and with months of recordings, it took a while for the pop-up to populate the available dates, now it's instantaneous.
  • OpenALPR runs without a hitch after the upgrade.
  • Not caring for the schedules, profiles and remote management combo boxes on the top title bar, as I don't use those items.
  • Oh, and the CPU usage looks to have dropped from 40% to 32%.

I am manually adding all the camera and setting.. Nothing worked when trying to backup from settings..

Thanks. That was exactly it. I downloaded UI3 from github, installed, problem solved!

Would I just download the ui3.htm file from GitHub and replace in the V5 folder?
